First Friday of September, it’s been raining, cool and stormy. Start of meteorological fall season. Time to crack open my first Pumpkin Ale of the year. 🍺

Whats the standard procedure for Manual pages that reference an old email that clearly no longer works in the Author section? Yes, it was the authors email at the time of the commit, but the domain is no longer theirs.. Just leave it be, track down the email they use now, remove it for security reasons? #FreeBSD #Linux #InfoSec

Someone cut down our Corylus cornuta 😢 (Beaked Hazelnut). It was supposed to fruit for the squirrels this year. 🐿️🐿️ #gardening

Hey #MacAdmins, this is a good article to read. Everyone should backup their portables.

I find out my vehicle runs #FreeBSD under the hood in both senses. I think I may need to peel off the engine badge and replace it with an automotive looking FreeBSD one.

I’m trying to upgrade my Mastodon server from 4.4.3 to 4.4.8 since yesterday waiting for yarn to run its update. Currently the yarn process is running at 200% CPU, 0% memory, and been going on for 10+ hours. Any ideas? #FreeBSD #MastoAdmin

Is there any "network device" simulators out there that would allow me to host 20+ network devices on one host to troubleshoot DHCP issues?

I would like to spin up a VLAN between some infrastructure switches, a DHCP server and a host. The host will just request a bunch of DHCP operations over a few hours simulating multiple devices. I prefer using it on #FreeBSD but would accept #Linux, macOS, and if I have to Windows.

⚠️Fair warning⚠️

I comment on Cleveland Browns football 🏈! These types of toots/posts might get more frequent. Now is a good time to mute the #Browns hashtag so you can avoid my non technical posts! 🤓

Go Browns!

FreeBSD 40% performance increase over Linux. Awesome 👏🏻 https://bsd.network/@dexter/114979491651973581

So far the #PDX (Portland, OR) #Meshtastic move to Medium Slow is mixed. The range is good over Medium fast but the overall messages are spotty. Need to look at MS Freq and see if it’s noisy. Join PDXMesh.com Discord to help out the testing.

Ever use the "log" command on macOS and want to highlight certain items? As of 15.5 you can use "--highlight-predicate <insert predicate>" to highlight log lines you maybe interested in. #MacAdmins

Why don’t we have Network Administrators who know how to properly setup and manage a Firewall from scratch anymore? Everything needs to be an appliance that has some sort of back door or uniformly designed management tool that includes multiple layers of vulnerabilities just waiting for hackers to get around.

My son(8) has finally watched all the Lucas written #StarWars movies. Watched it in timeline order. The way I have always wanted him to see it. We started on May 4th watching Ep 1,2. Then over the past month we watched the rest of the saga (3-6) only.

Fav. Films: Phantom Menace, and Revenge of the Sith
Fav. Characters: Luke and the Ewoks
Biggest Reaction: “I knew it!” When Jedi went to arrest Palpatine.
Biggest Question for me: “Why do you like the bad guys so much?” (During ANH)

I have a feeling companies like to rotate their email hostnames every few months so that people who use filters based on the FROM header get put back into the inbox… example.com -> email.example.com -> e.example.com -> mail.example.com -> m.example.com…

Please stop!

Kandji are looking for a Principal macOS Software Engineer. Its a Swift codebase. I am the primary QA for said software so you would get to work with me! Take that with a grain of salt. It was San Fransico but no one wanted to work there.. I wonder why? I can answer questions if you would like.

It has now been opened to #RemoteWork now. #FediHire #macOS #Swift #SwiftDev
