I have a phone question. My Google Pixel 7 became a POS, I'm not sure why, and I replaced it with a OnePlus Nord N30 5G. I really like this phone and it runs better than the Pixel 7 despite not looking half as good on paper.

But it has stopped getting security updates. The last one was July 2024.

I hate AI, I hate Samsung, and I hate Apple, what phone would you recommend me upgrading to? Perhaps another OnePlus/Oppo/Nothing? I usually buy used, and I will not spend more than $200.

I haven't seen anybody posting "Liberal Redneck" Trae Crowder's stuff here and it is all exceptional and worth our time. Here is his latest.

Happy birthday to me. I don't recommend everyone get to this age, but I intend to keep going.

And I would remind you that Trump has promised to scrap the Constitution. So yes, we should be afraid. I don't know if he can accomplish it, but it is one thing he ran on.

You're voting for Trump because you think he's best for handling the economy? Have you seen what the economy did in fascist Germany? Rampant inflation, prices rising like you wouldn't believe. You chase away immigrants, you don't have anyone to pick your crops. They rot in the fields. Like they have been in Florida the past 2 years.

Until we can repeal the PATRIOT Act and reverse Citizens United, there is no win. But if you think the orange clown cares about those things, you're not paying attention.

An unsubstantiated rumor is circulating that John Mastodon is really "Bob" Dobbs in disguise... Put that in your pipe and smoke it...

So another Bandcamp Friday has gone by without me pushing my own sales. I'm just bad at it, that's why I'm broke at 72 years old. But if you would like to check out some good folkish music with some looks to the future and some to the past, https://mordewis.bandcamp.com

I have lost count of the number of houses and trailers, many with two or three acres of land, which I could have purchased for between $50,000 and $80,000, but every lender I contacted would not loan less than $130,000 and wanted a 20% down payment even at that. This could be bought by the government and sold as affordable housing. I have seen a few of these being bought by investors, they spend 6 months fixing them up and sell them for five times as much money.

What I didn't hear at the Democratic national convention included topics such as humanizing homelessness, building more *public* housing, and creating more *actually affordable housing*. The Republicans seem to think affordable housing is $500,000, and the Democrats seem to think it's $230,000. Affordable housing is a house you can purchase, in whatever condition but livable, for less than 3 years' salary. We also need lenders who are willing to loan money on trailers and cheaper housing.

You begged so nicely I sent you another podcast.

In a couple of hours I will be leaving to wend my way towards Baltimore for my weekend. I have two panels, two filksing hostings, and two half hour concerts to perform over the long weekend. There will be other opportunities to perform. This will be great for my music career especially if I can manage to sell some CDs to help pay for the trip. Wish me luck! #filk #balticon
