This week I bought a busted EeePC 701 for parts and it had enough to get my own EeePC working again. This laptop from 2008 successfully launched X under #NetBSD, and I think it looks very stylish with the black chassis and white battery/keyboard. Looking forward to using that chonky headphone jack soon.

“Gussets & Gores” should be the tabletop version of that dressmaking game everyone’s excited about.

I sewed a garment! It made it through the wash and everything!

For my Dutch class we each prepare a 5 minute presentation about something of our choice. I am beginning to think my topic choice, “I explain why I made this embroidery in the style of the Bayeux Tapestry making fun of a shareholder presentation referencing Aesop’s Fables” may have been a bit too ambitious.

#wipwednesday #embroidery piece, which I’m not sure where to take next 🤔 I don’t think it’s finished, though.

I keep going over it in my head. Did that really happen? Surely I misunderstood this somehow, it’s such a weird and nonsensical interaction. But the guy called out to me with some unsolicited uspol again later; we weren’t even in a conversation?? Does this guy just do this? I can’t make it make sense.

I went to a conference in Paris last month and got razzed by the physical security person for (1) not speaking French and (2) being American, and not in a fun jocular way.

Wild to have this happen at all, when it’s one of the many common American fears about traveling abroad that’s almost completely unfounded. Especially wild to have it happen at a conference advertised in English, with exclusively English content, which was happening as an alternative to traveling to the USA for ICFP.

I boosted this and then un-boosted because I know the OP is going to get a zillion well-actuallys about local burns

I, an influential tech thoughtfluencer, demonstrated iPhone folding way back on an iPhone X. Subscribe to my Ko-Fi for more tech news years ahead of its time or my OnlyFans to see me crush progressively newer phones between my ass and a stair edge.

Apparently Ken and Roberta Williams’s’s’s Oakhurst house is on AirBNB and the description is Very Ominous for someone familiar with The Colonel’s Bequest: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/745064635090998742

I had a whole bit I was going to do victim-blaming @emfSpiders , saying that if they were more visible humans wouldn’t get jump-scared and squish them, but honestly that mindset sucks too much to enjoy inhabiting for a joke so instead let’s just enjoy this highly visible seven-legged spider.

I started embroidering this because traveling with a long dowel is annoying. I wanted to make a flag for it so that it would at least be fun. Huge success!

I’m showing off a bunch of pieces at the Arts tent at #emfcamp ! I’ll be around for another ~30 minutes if you’d like to come by. If your hands are clean, you may touch!

My #embroidery “baygoose tapestry” is now live on the wall of the Robot Arms at #emfcamp . That means I can’t work on it anymore and have to find something else to do with my hands, eyes, and mind. Luckily there seems to be a lot going on here!

Thanks to @installations for accepting my unhinged proposal :)

if you’re heading to the Stena Line from Hoek van Holland and you see a white lady with jorts and a huge backpack with a bunch of dowels sticking out of it, that’s probably me. Ask me about LOOM.
