#django work for today:

* Opened a PR for the Steering Council to have a website & RSS feed
* New issue on the Working Group Repo for a deployment WG: https://github.com/django/dsf-working-groups/issues/101
* lots of reading

Anyone interested?

@janraasch @ehmatthes either of you interested in the second?

I have been running all my servers with Tailscale, with all ports blocked except for web ports (80 and 443). I'm using Hetzner's firewall to block all other traffic.

This week I added Cloudflare Tunnel to manage all web traffic. As of Friday, I had three servers with zero open ports, and everything was firewalled off except a small subset to let Coolify servers manage my small fleet.

It's kind of wild, but two labels apply the firewall to a new server, and everything is working like before.

Use the gist for details, or contact me for details! See you in a few hours.

👀 Does anyone want to do Office Hours today?

I need to work on conference videos and other open source this afternoon. I shifted my daily start time a few hours every day and 2/2:30 my time is looking so very far away.

Yes, plz. I love that voice support is finally a first-class feature in apps.

It's 2026, we just got a new Range Oven, and the first thing I did was flash its firmware.

I know some people are grumpy about the concept, but not having to reset the time again or adjust for daylight saving time is 💯

🔥 Opus 5 is my least favorite model ever.

I'm calling this the #bsky theme. Can we change the theme, or is this what's to come?

I don't mind doing new things or #Mastodon's new design is fine, but I hate the notifications and messages being in the bottom left over the previous design.

Did the "new post" button move? I thought it was at the top, which feels like an extra step just to post.

Meh.

A weekend and almost a dozen pi durable agents later... it's good. Really, really good folks.

I need to do a side-by-side comparison with Pydantic AI (my go-to for building), but the durability features are what make it shine.

📺 Cobra Kai, I am finally finishing this series tonight. I loved the movie as a kid, and this has been a fun, nostalgic ride over the last six-plus seasons.

I found a memory leak that increases our memory usage by 3x. It didn't show up in our benchmarks, which is why I dogfooded the project in production for a few weeks.

It was subtle, but now we know what to look for to prevent future memory leaks.

And... fix being applied and deployed...

I'm a huge Pydantic AI fan and will be for a while, but Pi Durable is really, really good, even though I don't use TypeScript/JavaScript professionally.

I'm not even scratching 1/100 of what it can do, yet I automated three really annoying tasks with it today that would have been a pain any other way.

I think Pi is fine, and I have mostly built on top of it rather than with it. Pi Durable really hits different though.

I have been running a fork of django-rusty-templates in production for three weeks and hit my first production bug.

I upgraded my projects to Django 6.1 this week (I blame @CodenameTim for Django Probe stats), and I hadn't ported Django 6.1's csp_nonce_attr yet.

Everything worked, but my Django Admin on https://djangotv.com is a great sign.

Anyways, it'll get fixed in the next 15 to 20 minutes. Overall performance is grand so far.

I dusted off my cursed Apple TV (one before the 4K model), and it was as cursed as I mentioned before.

I found out how to change resolutions from the remote... WHY?

Once the Apple TV adjusted, I discovered how to re-pair the same remote I just used to change the resolution, but it is cursed and immediately rejected it... WHY?

An OS update and a YouTube TV update later, I can finally use it to watch football. 🏈

Days that having a KVM has saved me a trip to the office++

@sethmlarson I assume you saw this. Even if these consoles aren't your jam, it's pretty cool.

⛔ No Office Hours today.

My son is off and wants to hang out at the office, and I need to drop him off at a birthday party earlier than usual.

We'll be back next week.
