@david_chisnall Signal is using SGX, right?

Oh, @bascule I thought it was (re)using RustCrypto's AES GCM 😅

I've been thinking about what should be the security boundary between the vendor and user part in a mobile Linux and enterprise environment. Most real-world attacks I have seen don't really use kernel exploits, they rely on running untrusted executables, or tricking users or services into executing script payloads (like curl | sh) or inline commands (bash -c "./certified-malware"). The attacker's primary goal is persistence or data exfiltration through arbitrary code execution.

Can anyone get @librewolf into official Fedora and Arch repo? :)

@dalias and @hipsterelectron would like to have a word with you xD

Which distro you prefer for development (in toolbox/distrobox, VM, devcontainer)?

#development #toolbox #distrobox #linux

My two complains with @Mojeek are:
Dated UI compared to competitors (auto theme picker missing)
Substack integration

@b0rk Do you know if there's already a standardized way to set default interactive shell instead of workarounds like adding `exec fish` to your .bashrc?

I know that you can set a shell as the default for a specific terminal emulator, but wouldn't it be nice if there were a more universal approach? For example, you can define an environment variable like `INTERACTIVE_SHELL=/usr/bin/fish`, and all terminals, multiplexers, and in-editor terminals automatically respect that setting :D

Does this affect #Signal? 🤔

Which one do you think will become the de facto standard for tinkering or development environments on Linux when locked down model like mobile or atomic desktops become common?

#Linux #Desktop #MacOS #Windows #kdelinux #Fedora #Silverblue #universalblue #bazzite #steamOS #GNOME

@scottjenson Do you happen to know of any? I found some on general fonts, but nothing specifically on monospace fonts

Is there any peer-reviewed studies that evaluated monospace fonts? xD

On an ARM laptop, what would you likely use?

#Linux #Debian #Fedora #AlpineLinux

Folks, does #Mastodon news section have RSS feed?

@hipsterelectron https://wiki.alpinelinux.org/wiki/Hardened_malloc

TIL hardened_malloc is available in Alpine repo xD

@evan type poll lol

Is it okay to compromise your values just to make a living if you got no other choice, like taking a job at a big tech company, military or ad agency even if you don’t agree with what they do?

If there's any job opening related to #selinux, let me know :)
