#danskertrut

This monitor doesn't scale well for older computer resolutions but NeXTSTEP 3.3 runs on MiSTer.

Every time my work laptop (M1 Pro, 16 GB RAM) loads up an electron app - either on its own or in any browser - music playback either pauses or just starts breaking up until I stop it and restart it. I feel like this is the kind of bug that Apple should have found and fixed a very long time ago. You may be thinking "Oh, web apps.. you're probably out of RAM or the CPU is spiking", and you would be wrong as I was. Numbers look fine, but this happens *every time*. #Apple

[ADMIN MESSAGE]
On Sep 30, Reddit announced that they will kill their RSS feeds on November 13, 2026 with no replacement offered.

As this bot is using the RSS feed of https://www.reddit.com/r/todayilearned/ it will stop on the same date.

The open internet is dying, bit by bit and it makes me sad. Anyway, thank you for being with us all these years and take care.

Their Kokomo-cover is pretty fantastic!

It seems that this time Me First and the Gimme Gimmes Shit the Bed, and I’m here for it. I can’t really spot the theme this time around, though. There usually is one. https://fatwreck.bandcamp.com/album/shit-the-bed

i'm desperate at this point so i guess i'll put out a #getfedihired call.

i've been coding for 12 years, i've been doing linux sysadmin for, like, 5.

i have particular strength in web development, anything C# or .NET, and the Windows API.

no requirements to line of work.

i live in london, UK. i am a dual european and UK citizen, anywhere in europe is fine. i am open to remote (don't mind office days) or possibly relocating elsewhere in the UK (or europe).

Young students in Kyiv were kіІІеd while running for shelter💔 They were trying to save their lives. They deserved to live, to dream, to grow old, to have a future.

russia has once again taken innocent lives.

“russіan bаllistic mіssiles struck the grounds of a university in Kyiv and the area around it – effectively the campus, Kyoto Park, the area near a metro station, and residential buildings. The exact number of casualties is not yet known. But tragically, there are victims. There are people injured. Rescue operations are underway.” - Zelenskyy

The closest I’ll ever get to being up in lights in Times Square

Look again: That phrase isn’t Keelah Se’Lai

It’s the Quarian phrase I created for #MassEffect Annihilation. The name of my ship

Not “by the homeworld I hope to see one day” but “by the homeworld I hope to find one day”

I have a lot of feelings…

Aaaaaaargh! That is all. Carry on.

Found a really neat project: Local Wikipedia by Ed Jefferson! 🗺️✨
It generates a localized encyclopedia using Wikipedia articles for places within about a 30-minute walk from you (or any location you search for). Perfect for discovering hyper-local history and landmarks right around your corner.

I wrote a short guide on how to get more natural sounding voices on Linux. With thanks to @Edent for making me aware there were options beyond the default.

#AlternateFridayMusic Last Wave by They Might Be Giants but the video is Walk This Way by Aerosmith and Run DMC

This is what TMBG actually wrote the song to do. You could call it a remix if you squint a bit.

It's so strange. On my Thinkpad T14s Cosmic Desktop is just not stable. On other hardware and other distros, it seems rock solid. I guess I just have to use something else on that one laptop :/

There's a thread over on Bluesky asking about the first video game you remember playing. I can't help but think the answers would be more interesting here

Mine was _Tank_, a sit-down two-player arcade game made by Atari. Our family used to go skiing about an hour north of Montreal every year and we stayed in Le Chantecler Hotel. There was a Tank in the hotel lobby

It was 1974 so I was 7. (I had a LOT of pinball under my belt by then.) Between me and my brothers, we probably dumped $50 into that game even though we only had a window of ~4 hours every day to play, and it was in strong competition with the indoor pool. Plus we needed to talk my dad out of parting with $5 for each of us every night. I think we lied and said we needed it for the jukebox in the bar/disco that we were somehow allowed to hang out in at night

So... what was yours?
