Crazy how some projects hem and haw and hand-wring and then decide to just accept slop anyway, when your no-AI policy can actually just be this. https://therian.zone/notes/as27ondbbthg0puu

AAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA! https://blog.cloudflare.com/next-git-platform-on-cloudflare/ @cR0w #fuckcloudflare

@veilamp, you should declare publicly that you're using AI to write (the majority of?) this code. Based on the kind of people who find Veilid attractive, I really think they deserve to know. Because I didn't know, and I thought it was cool. Now, I'm not going to touch it, and I'm going to tell absolutely everybody that it's slop.

"Veilamp started from a simple question: what if sharing your music with friends didn't mean handing your library to a company?"

But apparently outsourcing your ability to think and program is A-okay.

Imagine writing paeans to the independent and open Web and then you use the fucking slop extruder to do it. I truly do not understand the cognitive dissonance required to be like this. It fucking sucks. You can't just make appeals to internet freedom and then turn around and use a goddamn AI bobot to write your software.

Oh, yeah, commits co-authored by Factory Droid. #veilamp is slop. Fuck right on off.

So #veilamp looks cool, but the commits being pushed by a single individual are quite large. Some of them implement significant functionality and are pushed 20 minutes before or after other significantly large commits. Wondering if Veilamp is developed with the assistance of LLMs.

Edit: yup, it's slop.

Now we get to the uniquely-American "what if you get fucking shot lol" part of the training.

Doing mandatory workplace violence prevention training, and somehow, threatening behaviors or language is considered workplace violence, but not when the threat is "use AI or lose your job".

Are there any (ideally, local) password managers that don't accept slop? I know some folks forked KeePassXC, but I can't get it to build on my old-ass Intel Mac, and I don't have the time to try. I'll just gpg encrypt a text file, if I have to, but if something like KeePassXC exists that I don't have to build and that doesn't guzzle slop, I'd love to know. Thanks. #askfedi #askfediverse #lazyweb

Microdosing hell by being in 2.5-hour meetings.

I believe they'll be basically independent adults by the end of summer, but they will remain with their family for up to five years.

I just watched a wee crow fledgling open a peanut all by itself! 🥹 (Still honking the entire time tho lol.) Aww, they're growing up. :3

Reminder that I'm still matching donations up to $500 for HOPE. We're at $60/$500 now (thanks again to folks who have helped, it means a lot!). Just DM me a receipt (redact any identifying info, if you'd like). https://mastodon.online/@hopeconf/116873959933575095

Hey, Fedi. Can anyone recommend some good trans charities/organizations to donate to, preferably in the United States? I've seen some names floating around, but I can't quite remember what they were or where I saw them. Much appreciated! #AskFedi #AskFediverse

You can be conflicted about AI and still not use it. Masturbatory philosophizing is great, until your conclusion is "this technology is definitely doing irreparable harm... I'm going to carefully use it anyway!".

You can't just wax poetic about the nuances of the "AI debate", especially to use as a gentle cudgel against critics, and then use AI anyway. If you use it, you have to own it: the environmental destruction, the theft, the traumatization of workers in developing nations.

Tired: AI security.
Wired: slopsec.
