Anyone have a suggestion of a reliable VPS host? Mine isn't reliable and the "support" I received yesterday about it was less than helpful. Something about my Windows license on my FreeBSD server being the cause of it shutting down.. Seriously that's what they told me.

I run FreeBSD and pay $55 USD a year for 8GB ram server.

Thanks

My explanation of the big 3 BSD's use case:

FreeBSD is what you want when you want the most compatible / up to date / most software.

OpenBSD is what you want when you have an older Thinkpad and feel superior without having much software (minimalist), you also don't play games if they aren't called NetHack.

NetBSD is what you want when you hate AI and are okay with using older hardware and not as much software as FreeBSD but want to run it on all your hardware.

Civilization was a mistake.

Who's hosting? I can always host no problem. Quake DM of course.

OpenBSD release is trying to be edgy and it's failed 100%. You users hate AI, you are out of touch. Nice work on getting people to migrate from OpenBSD to NetBSD though!

So happy about all the new NetBSD users! Welcome to the BSD world! Ask questions, we are normally much more helpful than other OS people.

Is CachyOS one of those fascist things? I keep hearing about it, I'm pretty sure it's just a repackaged ArchLinux BTW.

Very nice pixel drawing program (app for you kids)! Written in QuickBasic 64 Phoenix Edition! Very impressive with a ton of features and even tablet pressure. It works on at least Linux, Windows & Mac. I haven't tested any BSDs yet. https://github.com/grymmjack/DRAW Check out DRAW! #QBasic #qb64 #qb64-pe

I've failed to program anything worthwhile in a long time, since QBasic days. I decided to do some BASIC programming since I can't process modern or complex languages. Quite a few BASICs out there today, currently I've found MoonBASIC that seems to be okay, developed in Go and very recent. Some of the others I've looked at were BASIC-256 and BambooBasic. QB64 and FreeBASIC as well, but I wanted to see if there were any more modern ones.

The Anti AI Operating Systems that I am aware of are NetBSD, 9front, uxn, HaikuOS,Redox OS & AlpineBSD. Any others I should add to this list?

WTF is up with Dell computers just turning themselves on when you attach a power cable? This is nonsense.

WinAMP modern clone for those that don't know it exists: https://getwacup.com/

Just figured out I can hire drummers online to make tracks to back my music. I guess I might can release music soon and won't have the excuse of not being able to find a drummer. Who knew?

I don't like that my VPS host reboots my server sometimes and I don't get a notification. :(

I have been touching computers less lately because during my personal free time I am either practicing my bass guitar or playing some PC games. I also have less personal free time with a toddler. :P

Can I just get paid to tinker around with Operating Systems and pixel the occasional artwork?

Governments going full on evil, software going full on "AI", people going full on racist; is anything going good in 2026? I mean seriously. I don't know of anything good happening at all.

@prahou@merveilles.town did you do this?
