The current XLR situation.

I asked Italo (https://www.italodeangelis.com) what CPU the Eventide H8000 uses as he knows all about the H8000 and he says it's two Motorola DSP56303 chips for the processing which are 24bit: https://www.nxp.com/docs/en/data-sheet/DSP56303.pdf Italo has made some great patches for lots of effects units, check out his website above!

I double checked how snazzy the Waldorf Iridium (MK1) is: ARM Cortex-A9. 32bit.

Somebody managed to SSH into the Moog One which is running linux (https://www.ryanzachry.com/) and uname -a showed "armv7l" which I believe is a 32bit processor.

64 bit stuff I own: a Mac mini containing an Apple M1 64 bit chip and a mobile phone containing a 64 bit ARM chip. The newest most high-end technological piece of audio equipment I own, the Rossum Assimil8or Eurorack sampler, uses a ARM Cortex-A8 which is 32 bit.

Could you do everything you enjoy doing in your life if you were prohibited from using any CPU with a wordsize greater than 32 bits? I feel currently I could live happily in a world restricted to 32 bits.

Just finished this, recommended.

Day 17 of #SciArtSeptember shape prompt is eyelet, so I thought of lace collars & chose to share astrophysicist Cecilia Payne-Gaposchkin (1900-1979), who discovered that hydrogen and helium are the most common elements in the universe.

Ta da! I am still figuring this one out it's quite an unusual sampler, released in the year 2000!

The VP9000 was on OS 1.02 (I think) when I got it and the latest version on the Roland site is 1.12. Roland were nice enough to have the OS available both as an image to put on a 250meg zip disk, or split into 32 midi files for a sysex transfer. I went with the sysex as I don't have any zip disks these days. I owned an Iomega 100 back in the late 90s though which I used with the A3000. I sold the zip disk for some silly reason.

Reverse-engineering the MC-202's tape format took a long time and one of these.

Notes, accents, glides, ties, bar lines - all of it survives the round trip, in both directions.

CPU Micron, out now.

Backwards cowbells are always welcome. I just bought the EP after hearing this track from it on nts.live web radio. It's that Friday.

For example, in one set of studies, highly experienced chess players were given a series of problems that required a similar solution type. Next, they were presented with a problem that could be solved with either a suboptimal or less familiar but better solution. Most players failed to find the newer solution.

Findings like these have led some psychologists to argue that sometimes, highly reinforced solutions create "the inflexibility of expertise."

64 megs is more Roland VP-9000 sampling memory than anybody could ever need.
