The rapid adoption of LLMs in nearly everything reminds me of the rapid adoption of asbestos back in the day. And we all know now how that turned out, right? I think there will be a similar aftermath when the hype died down. Companies that will do the digital equivalent of "prying the asbestos out of your house" - but with software instead 😆
Oh wow, the XScreensaver-hack "handsy" just goatse'd me. Uhm, thanks? 😆 🤣
#Schland Fallout: Sondersendungen, Analysen. "Wie geht es weiter?"
Klimakrise: "Tja, ist heiss, ne? Viel trinken! Nun zum Spocht"
#schland is officially over

Happy Caturday everyone 😹
Tech Corpos after the AI bubble collapse be like:
Wann wurde eigentlich die letzte Nazi-Demo niedergeküppelt? Mir fällt grad spontan keine ein 🤔
There is something I'd like to get off my chest for a few days now regarding the sudden rush to #Linux in the wake of #endof10. Please keep in mind this comment is in no way meant to be gate-keepy or mean or anything like that. I really appreciate that people try new things and get new perspectives especially in the current state of tech with all their shiny walled gardens in which corpos try to herd us into. So the more people find out that computer-stuff doesn't have to be like "that" and that #FOSS is the only way to go in the long run (imho) the better.
Now comes the "but(t)" 😆
Please do not expect Linux to be the "holy land" - the be-all-end-all to all your problems you had with #Windows over the years. It's not. Sure, you can do a ton of things with it and the usefulness as a daily driver has significantly improved over the last two decades. But it's still a piece of software - and software breaks. The only difference is that most software on Linux is able to generate some kind of debug output or logfile you can sift through in order to get a general idea of what the nature of your problem is. Try that with Windows' notoriously unhelpful "system event viewer". Not to mention the gazillions of forums/discords/$whatever full of people who encountered the same stuff you did so there is a lot of knowledge available to you to help you with. So when it comes to debug-a-bility I personally find Linux to be even easier to work with.
To my fellow Linux veterans: Be patient with people who seek help with something. I know, it sometimes isn't easy but don't make other folk's experience even worse by scoffing at them.
That being said - have fun exploring this new world at your heart's content 😄
And if you find out Linux isn't for you that's fine, too. At the end of the day it is *you who decides what to work with. Don't let people tell you otherwise.
Ta ta, lovelies ❤️
