I was just coming back from running errands alone and turned on the road before the one I usually do. As I was nearing another intersection, where I had to turn right, a juvenile bald eagle (?) swooped down in front of my car, as big as my windshield, then flew up and off back the way it came behind the houses on my right. I turned right at the intersection, and the eagle was still swooping and circling the backyards of the houses on my right. It was amazing! Had I taken my usual route, I wouldn't have seen it.

I just realized I forgot to take my CBD gummy the past 3 days. No wonder my hip hurts!

We did early voting today! We were able to do curbside voting because I can't stand in line with my hip and hubby has no energy. They were busy! The poll workers said it's been nonstop lines since early voting started last week. This is great news!!

(Yes I know voting won't change everything but it can make a small change onto bigger things)

So my nose has been bleeding for the past 2 hours. Not pouring blood, but like a stuffy nose but it's blood not snot. We have the air conditioning on and a humidifier going on low.

Any thoughts on how to stop this and at what point to contact a doctor?

We're watching TV and an ad for a perfection drug comes on
Me: oh thank goodness, ulcerative colitis and not another political ad!
Hubby: well at least you can trust a disease.
Me :mastolol:
Hubby: you know what it's gonna do, unlike the politicians.

Hubby's big adventures in his 54th year: hyperparathyroidism and discovering THC.

Heard an ad for Senator Husted on the radio and I was laughing so hard I was crying! They said democratic rival Sherrod Brown is coming for your private health insurance and wants to force you on to medicare! When medicare for all is polling at 68% approval rating. The ruling class has no idea how much we hate private insurance! :mastorofl:

How about no?

Any suggestions for easy meals for large groups? I have 2 orgs I'm working with that want ideas. Imagine no dietary restrictions. Ideas or recipes are fine.

Edited to add:
For one I'm looking for about 100 people tops, but it can be smaller quantities. It'll be served standing up with limited chairs, no tables. It would be prepared at home and brought to the venue.

The other would be for a couple dozen, which may have a commercial kitchen, or at the very least a large home kitchen, with tables and chairs to eat at.

I went to the international market today and picked up a few new to us food items, mostly ramen, rice mixes, and drinks.

We tried the fresh kumquats tonight and they were meh. I'll eat them but if any of you have recipes that would be great. I don't have canning equipment.

I also picked up fresh persimmons, so we'll try those tomorrow.

For work I had to attend a data security webinar this month for continued elevated access to some computer systems. I chose a webinar on the dangers of AI. It was refreshing to hear an expert computer toucher call for reigning in AI, asking for people to be charged with being responsible for what AI under their watch. She called for responsible use and not following AI blindly.

Turtle Bower Retreat wants you!

@vlrny is the one who came up with the idea of #TurtleBowerRetreat, a spoonie convalescent retreat for 4-6weeks over the winter at a camp or meditation retreat in southern Ontario. She says "There's a lot of power in rest and kindness and vegetables. I'd like a chance to prove that."

Turtle Bower Retreat is described by Valerie as "Basically a temporary care home for the chronically ill. A quiet place to rest, specific to our needs (unscented, masked and/or isolated cohort), with god nutrition, opportunities for (very!!!) gentle movement/stretching, coaching on turning parasympathetic system back on to get into deep rest."

My (Somcak) goal as a project manager is to put together a checklist of how to get this done (so it can be replicated in other local places) and shepherd this into being by guiding volunteers along the way.

So what can you do? Do you have ideas on what you would want to do at a spoonie retreat? Or maybe there's a recipe for a nutritious meal that serves lots of people? Do you know someone who would be interested in attending or volunteering or both? Even if you can't attend, you can contribute to making this awesome and something that could be replicated anywhere in the world.

Reply here or DM me. All ideas welcome. My goal over the next month or so is to gather ideas and volunteers to start fundraising to make Turtle Bower a reality.

Feel free to reach out to me to take part in building a retreat for those that need deep rest. You can comment here, DM me, or use the contact form linked below. I'll be organizing things this afternoon and tomorrow, so let me know if you want to be part of this special retreat.

On the way home from Target after work, there were 2 cop cars behind me and there were cars in front of me waiting at the light by the Tim Hortons. The light changed, we started to go and a guy jumps out from the bushes and throws something in front of the car ahead of me. I break hard the cops swarm around me and the car in front of me from all directions! I couldn't get out, I was blocked in. The cops have their guns drawn and arrest the 3 people in the car in front of me. After they were all cuffed and in cop cars, they moved some of the cars so I could get out. It was fucking scary.

After all my issues with trying to get HRT for menopause, I saw someone post here about trying Planned Parenthood. So I did. They're out of network for my insurance, so I had to pay $45 for a tele-health visit. And I got estrogen patches!! Follow up in 3 months. Whew.

The nurse practitioner I saw was nice, understanding, and gave me tips on how to treat some of my other symptoms of menopause. (Get flonase and spray it on a q-tip, then use that to rub onto your ear for itchy ears) She told me what to expect and when to expect it.

I got a tattoo this evening, but like, I forgot to take a pic before she bandaged it up. So imagine Picasso's line drawing of his dachshund, but in purple made to look like a neon sign. It's on my front left ankle.
