I am sure plenty resent Big AI companies calling themselves 'labs'.
So I was, until I realised this was as in meth, not research.

Bon dimanche.
There are few things that so perfectly represent the capitalist mode of production as generative AI. It’s theft. It’s plagiarism. It’s an attack on labor. It destroys the environment. It produces junk. It’s harmful to consume. It concentrates wealth. In short, it’s a catastrophe for society.
“My interpretation is that they felt that Eskimo culture—Inuit culture—was an isolated and somewhat pure thing 100, 150 years ago. And they felt that it was ultimately corrupted by Western culture. So you get polar bears drinking Coke.”
The Residents' spokesman Homer Flynn traces the path from a commissioned 20-minute set to the first full staging of the group's Arctic concept album, now expanded with songs drawn from century-old folk tales. The Tonearm's Bill Kopp talks to the one who talks.

Surfacing from a conversation in someone else’s replies, advice many folks on Fedi might like (but I don’t want to swamp their mentions):

The planet’s vital signs are getting worse. One of the easiest fixes is your diet.
A lot of climate change is beyond the control of individuals alone, but how you eat can matter more than you may think.
All security issues have to wait. I am sorting wooden blocks 😍😍😍.
If you also want to do something amazing with your kids in #Berlin: Hamburger Bahnhof has this amazing exhibit until the start of next year.

Happy to be part of this roundtable discussion on the recent Frank #Zappa FreakOut box set and the upcoming Zoot Allures 50th anniversary set. Hosted by my friend Ian Beabout and his cat Servo on their channel 😻💿📺
