Don't be nice

"Sometimes a political party or a person decides to oppose shared human values like the importance of care, kindness, inclusion, or the simple value of welcoming people who are different from you. Maybe they oppose the equality of all people. Maybe they think some people do not deserve human rights.
When that happens, please, don't be nice. There's no 'both sides have a point.'" - @daniel
"It is foolish to think that you have to read all the books you buy, as it is foolish to criticize those who buy more books than they will ever be able to read. It would be like saying that you should use all the cutlery or glasses or screwdrivers or drill bits you bought before buying new ones. [...] "

TLDR:
A demonstration is still legal even if the organizers break the law by not informing the police of the demonstration.

Note:
Do not take this as proper legal advice. I am not a lawyer.
While the constitution ensures the right for public gatherings, § 5 of the Faroese law "Bekendtgørelse for Færøerne om politiets sikring af den offentlige orden og beskyttelse af enkeltpersoners og den offentlige sikkerhed mv., samt politiets adgang til at iværksætte midlertidige foranstaltninger (ordensbekendtgørelsen), sum seinast broytt við bekendtgørelse nr. 572 frá 22. juni 2026" requires **organizers** to inform the police 24 hours in advance.

Had this discussion again with a friend today. Thought I'd be good to write this out in a toot with sources.
A demonstration is not illegal if it the police haven't been informed about it. The constitution § 79 ensures the right to gather in public. It allows the police to forbid it if it becomes a risk to the public peace. § 80 explains how the police can do that.

The new Faroese abortion law comes into affect today! 💚
Guess who's in the news again (this time print news) 😅
Was interviewed by Dimmalætting where they asked me about being #nonbinary . The paper features a series of interviews with different #LGBT+ folks.
Am quite happy with the result!
They (mostly) used the right pronouns! 🥳 (in one of the first sentences the author says "Sigmundur uses they and them pronouns, which is why this article will refer to **her** with those pronouns" 🤦♀️
And we made it 🥳
On my way to Copenhagen from the Faroes.
Going to #Umbraco #CodeGarden
Google is declaring war on the Web
"This is a literal *revolution* but one against the participatory web, *against us*: The goal is to take away the web and guide people into Google’s abstraction on top of it. An abstraction they control and moderate. It’s about monopolizing access to information."

@Fraelsisfylking Here is more info about the law proposal, and any updates will also appear here (including the parliament sessions about the proposal)
The Faroese parliament wants to make it illegal (again) for people to order medicine to the Faroe Islands for personal use.
This is after we in @Fraelsisfylking read the current medicine law (that came into effect last year), and interpreted it to allow people to order medicine to the Faroe Islands. Which was confirmed by The Complaints Commission.
Making it illegal will be to the detriment of people in need of abortion medicine, gender affirming medicine, and more.
Some people might wonder why it's not very accessible to write a lot of emojis in your social media posts.
This blog post explains good practices for using emojis on social media (if you really need to use them)

I should at some point stop having all my eggs in one basket at Proton.
This blog post gave me some inspiration to do it, though unsure when that inspiration will turn into action 😅
The prime minister just announced that the parliament election will be on the 26th of mars.
This happened right between the debates of the two biggest and controversial decisions in parliament.
Both the law to increase the pension age and the decision to continue working on the South Island tunnel had their final sessions in parliament today.... or were supposed to.
Right after the South Island Tunnel passed, the prime minister announced the election, meaning the parliament session also ended
Fuck nazies
Sjúrður Skaale is also one Faroese politician spreading this very same misinformation in order to try to get Denmark to distance themselves from @franceskalbs
