So, me being me, when I use the phrase "dope" as in "awesome", I spell it "doap" (rhymes with soap). I've done this for a great many years.

I kinda disappeared off the radar when I was very ill with #covid, right into #LongCovid (you are still masking, right?), and lost touch with a lot of formerly close people.

Recently I've been in contact with several old pals, and each one at some point used my spelling. A silly thing, but deeply meaningful - they're giving me a sign like they remember *me*.

"Claims of incipient, dangerous superintelligence are not based in good scientific or engineering practice. Rather, they are narratives based in ideologies of transhumanism, eugenics, and wishful thinking about imagined future digital humans."

I've turned off auto updates on #grapheneOS because there is no such thing as ethical or acceptible slop in "secure" software.

@GrapheneOS has turned itself into an untrustworthy joke. This, I didn't see coming.

Where are the #rockBand and #stageTech nerds?

Building out a budget stage rig for my band so we will be exceptionally legible in delivering our #protest music. Gonna be something like this:

- #behringer WING rack mixer (24 in, 8 out)
- #Debra wireless IEM (x2)
- #phenyx antenna combiner
- #rfVenue CP antenna
- 1U colour-coded ethercon to colour-coded XLR panel for 24ch
- 6x 4ch XLR to ethercon colour-coded stage boxes
- #Audix OMX and D series mics for vox and drums
- #sE VR1 ribbon mics for overheads and guitars

Have only barely begun to think about lighting!

Interested in sponsoring? Have gear to donate or sell? Please inquire within!

If you think having a lil slop in all the world's important software if fine actually, you are wrong. Dead wrong. You will see.

I posted a #skillShare thread months ago and thought I didn't get any responses. Turns out I got several but I never saw them, and the persons likely think I ghosted them :(

Wow, shit - I just found out I've missed at least 2 dozen mastodon PMs due to some autofilter I didn't notice existed.

"[...] a dozen OpenAI staff members debated whether to alert authorities about the shooter's usage of the AI tool, with some identifying it as an indication of potential real-world violence. However, company leadership decided not to contact law enforcement, stating that the account activity did not meet their threshold for a credible or imminent plan for serious physical harm."

I guess maybe it was this? I didn't hear a peep about this. Jesus...

I wonder what the first accidental mass casualty event caused by "ai" will be. Errant bombing? Collapsed bridge? Drinking water poisoning? Mass highway pileup?

There's probably a polymarket bet for this.

The longer we let this go on the higher the stakes will be.

@fabio
Hi Fabio! Just wondering if the Gaza Verified Accounts account is intentionally boosting old Aral posts from 5-6 years ago?

I'm following this account to see posts from Gaza verified families, not a hundred one-sided one-word replies to broken threads from 6 years ago.

I am not a bot, nor a "state actor". I fully reject the state. I am a human being, a father, a sound engineer, a former computer engineer. I just happen to study history and fascism, and am able to spot it from a mile away.

We need to collectively dismantle capitalism and statehood and build a better world. We can, and must do so. There is no other option.

If you need proof that "vote blue no matter who" is not going to help progress, look no further than canada and #markcarney. We collectively "voted blue" and now the rest of our national assets are being liquidated to build more fossil fuel stuff. Cool! Great job! Voting for plunderers is clearly going to save us!

Are you a fan of LLMs? Just go ahead and block me to save me time from blocking you, please and thanks.

When almost all of us say we are "against 'ai'", we are talking about corporate LLMs and other nefarious usages, and not the non-labour-thieving ML stuff used in STEM.

Hope this helps clear things up for you.

As much as it will be very fun and personally satisfying, I'm getting my stage band going again with the explicit purpose of platforming #Palestine and railing against #billionaires and #WarCriminals.

This is just one small way to take action for Palestine.

#PalestineAction

Did you know that you (yes, YOU) can take action for #Palestine? If you haven't yet, now is a great time to start.

Can anyone knowledgeable recommend a #canadian #payroll software that isn't SaaS from an evil company like #intuit?
