This. But they also hit all of the obvious problems within a few months.

Got GPUI running on more GPU for iOS. It's already excellent on macOS.

Some houses require slippers inside. Ok, but mine are Public Enemy slippers.

It still seems like absolute science fiction to me that this incredibly fast Mac mini on my desk runs CI jobs from GitHub on Bazel in 15 seconds, covering 6000 tests of imaging code, while some GitHub Linux machine in the cloud covers the CPU path, because I use Metal and Accelerate on the Mac.

part way into Vietnam now on the blog, this is a good one

RFC 9849
TLS Encrypted Client Hello

https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc9849.html

Certified Banger according to Rob Standards Authority.

Claude says:

" The conformance tests pass though, so it works. It's like a house that's structurally sound but has three front doors, two kitchens, and a
load-bearing comment about browser copy-paste behavior.

---

Solid codebase overall — it clearly works and handles genuinely nightmarish Unicode edge cases. The real roast is that Twitter invented a text
format complex enough to need all of this in the first place."

always do this

Claude: "Yep, you're right — this is purely an effects/processing chain. Looking at what you've got:

Tiptop ES-8 — DC-coupled USB audio interface (your bridge to Ableton)
DPLR — delay
Bitcrusher (the module next to DPLR)
Doepfer A-147-2 VCDLFO — voltage controlled delayed LFO
Waldorf VCF1 — analog filter
MUM M8 — filter
PE-1 — parametric EQ
Sewastopol+ preamp modules
Tiptop uZeus — power supply"

Here's a good Claude case.

I say: "I keep getting ads for a "Sim n Tonic" Nome II midi master clock. Will this actually be helpful in an Ableton DAW setup. https://simntonic.com/"

It, I think correctly, says "no, your Eurorack is only audio processing, you don't need a really good clock."

me: "would there be a German word for 'GitHub Vindication', where your issues do get fixed a few months later?"

Claude: "Spätpatchrechthabungsgenugtuung" nails it:

Spät — late, belated
Patch — patch (German happily absorbs tech loanwords)
Rechthabung — the state of having been right
Genugtuung — satisfaction, vindication

The beautiful thing is it contains no action on your part. You didn't do anything. The universe acknowledged it with a GitHub notification email you almost marked as spam.

TIL there's a Rust podcast: https://corrode.dev/podcast/s03e01-zed/

I can put an end to the debate about whether Die Hard is a Christmas movie.

I have a Nakatomi Plaza advent calendar.

A Liquid Glass classic in the search box there...

@david_chisnall the thing is that most of the common ones are adaptive (I'm sure you know this, but that is why they are good)

oh yeah this is true. I mean I don't think you could call me an Objective-C fan, but the data structures are really good

The Zed Editor is a game-changer for me. I don't use the AI features inline very much, but I like the prompt column, where I use Google Gemeni. It's way faster than Googling for something (like some gnarly Rust syntax or something).

It's also just super fast, I had to get a new keyboard because I noticed the keys on the old were getting just a little worn out.

I don't think I will use it until it has a terminal, Emacs, and some networking.
