@peter This a thing going on in your corner of the world? https://www.tumblr.com/dianapocalypse/829225386915266560

An excellent #FuckICE chant on tonight's #AEWDynamite. Excellent to hear from the Vegas crowd.

Also good lord the finish for the main event. That was really good.

I can't wait for @pluralistic's new term, MEOW (Model Engine Optimization for the Web) to take off. #BetterOfflinePodcast

@pluralistic If it hasn't hit your radar already, you should look up Hench by Natalie Zina Walschots. Superheroes, supervillains, and people being taken down with the power of spreadsheets. https://bookshop.org/p/books/hench-a-novel-natalie-zina-walschots/388f87ed89dd11e0

Reading through @pluralistic's article today and had a thought regarding folk who think LLMs writing 10000 lines of code are an asset; they think the world literally operates like Cookie Clicker. https://pluralistic.net/2026/01/06/1000x-liability/#graceful-failure-modes

Reddit signed a deal with Google to use its data to train LLMs. To celebrate, we made a firefox extension that lets you replace all your comments with any text of your choosing. All we ask is that you not choose something copyrighted. The New York Times is currently suing OpenAI for training ChatGPT on its copyrighted material, and we wouldn't want Reddit's uniquely valuable data to become hopelessly intermingled with that of litigious copyright-holders.

The new bit of news to me out of @pluralistic's writeup of Google's enshittification is adding hidden terms to a user's search to trigger ads.

I'm surprised the details made it into the public. The article also mentions how techbros tend to label their clandestine conversations as "I'm doing a crime here" as well. It very much makes me think of Trump and how he wants people to know he is doing a crime but does not want to suffer any negative consequences.

Having the Golden Elite match right after the Punk match and the difference is fascinating. The crowd is popping a hell of a lot louder than during the Punk match.

It really makes it clear why Punk wants a match with the Elite to happen. He could use the rub from them. #AEWAllIn

Sounds almost too good to be true. Hopefully execs at places like Amazon and Tesla are flop sweating over this. https://www.reuters.com/legal/government/nlrb-paves-way-workers-unionize-without-formal-elections-2023-08-25/

Fuck all things why am I on the same side as Rand Paul on an issue.

The #TikTokBan is just completely stupid. Like @pluralistic says, a bill barring surveillance by tech companies would do far more than an app ban. But the purpose of the ban isn't to protect sensitive info. The goal is to clear a commercial competitor from the board while American tech continues to collect sensitive personal info with impunity.

Good post from @pluralistic regarding big tech layoffs and stock buybacks: https://pluralistic.net/2023/03/21/tech-workers/#sharpen-your-blades-boys

I can't grok what the long-term goal of these companies are. Honestly I don't think there is one. My guess that once lack of staffing causes actual issues with maintaining revenue and interferes with the parasitic investment-to-buyback loop they are running, the executives will expect to hire back their fired workers for a smaller salary than they had pre-layoff.
