On a call today: "so can you explain where you derived the main points to your policy document?” ".... well... er... so... er... its an accumulation of er... widely accepted practise." "Accumulated from where?" "Err.... well... you know... er... I asked Copilot". 🤦♂️ it's vibes all the way down now.
endlessly ironic when your employer has mandatory environmental awareness training while also being all in on AI. The choice was between a stable ecosystem and chatty bot, and we chose chatty bot. everything else is green washing.
Farewell duckdb. Capitalism is why we can't have nice things. https://www.theregister.com/databases/2026/08/26/aws-buys-ducklabs-the-people-behind-the-popular-in-process-olap-database/5292590
£500m for AI bro's while UK research councils and university departments collapse. This is obscene. https://www.sovereignai.gov.uk
£5m telescope trashed to save £50k, while they pump hundreds of millions into cloud credits for AI venture capital bro's. UKRI has lost it's mind. https://www.zmescience.com/science/astronomy/hipercam-camera-funding-cut/
The future is arguing with people armed with a Dunning-Kruger accelerator. https://www.theregister.com/ai-and-ml/2026/07/19/using-ai-makes-people-less-likely-to-admit-they-dont-know-something/5274567

Their 1st mistake was believing that governments represent the interests of people. The 2nd was that corporations care about either. Stop buying rental products.

I have abandoned a client project on Windows. The code builds and runs on all operating systems but the Microslop clown show. I consider it an acceptable loss at this point to cut my losses and move on. I wish the world would take the same position and condemn that useless broken hellscape to history.
shocked at how many people have told me lately how they can't write anymore without chatgpt. Writing is a part of thinking. The pain and anguish is the process of distilling thought into intent. Embrace your expression of that pain as the essence of human endeavour. It's why we exist. Don't hand that off to a dead simulacrum of your lived experience.
This seems to fall apart bit by bit every day. https://www.theregister.com/2026/04/20/europe_picks_4_sovereign_cloud/
is anybody else noticing that proposals and project documents are becoming much longer after slopgpt became the default author? i'm really glad to be asked to wade through 100 pages of short sentences and bullet point lists to provide feedback on a robot. I can just send back my own robot's appraisal instead and become meat based middleware, attending meetings where nobody has read anything. This is rapidly becoming fubar.
sad to see languagetool join the plethora of services crushed by "AI" slop. I will dance in the street the day that OpenAI dies. https://languagetool.org/webextension/premium-announcement
14bn years of Matlab code? The horror... https://www.theregister.com/2025/12/14/sphotonix_moves_5d_memory_crystal/
It's such a farce how employers use hacker rank for l33t code interview tests, while hacker rank still hasn't implemented randomised hash in Python 3 since 2012, requiring Python 2 to hack a correct answer. Good grief 🤦♂️
the printer industry is so completely broken today that this project could revolutionise home computing. https://www.crowdsupply.com/open-tools/open-printer
Just 250 documents to poison an LLM. I really hope nobody exploits this. It would be terrible! https://www.anthropic.com/research/small-samples-poison
"Of all the things at risk, the loss of an objective reality is perhaps the most dangerous". All I see now is people in stem jobs leaving in their thousands. Engineers didn't leave the railways when Stephenson's rocket arrived. Programmers didn't leave when home computers landed. Something is deeply wrong here. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c7016ljre03o
today I was in a project meeting discussing technical details of some work that concluded with "so we should have a discussion with the LLM to decide as it will have a lot more insight into this than ourselves." At that moment I saw the future of every project. We have given up on ourselves.
