Aaaand the latest installment: Chris Rufo, writing in the NYPost (which has inherited the Screaming Headline franchise from the National Enquirer) says that Mamdani's SATs are pffft. Only 2140 out of 2400, which is a mere "89th percentile."
Huh?
This Rufo character gets _paid_ by right wing think tanks. At least according to Wikipedia. And he doesn't know the difference between a percentile and a percentage.
The latter is 2140/2400, which is 89%.
The former, percentile, is where an individual lands compared to the scores other people got. For the year Mamdani took those tests (https://bsky.app/profile/timothysnyder.bsky.social/post/3ltjoavvsfs2s), he was in the 97th percentile.
Maybe the opinion of someone who can't even tell the difference, especially about someone else's academic abilities, is not worth the pixels it's printed in.
