Basically fighting over every independent artists' ability to become mini-capitalists helps Disney a lot more than it helps any artist.
I'm saying there are some really good anti-capitalist reasons to protest AI, and this is probably not one of them

Which tells you a couple things:
a) intellectual property is a legal construct, not a natural right
b) intellectual property rights may be part of a long term project to promote the power and wealth of industrialists, given that they have that affect
Stuff to think about next time you get hot around the collar about AI companies hoovering up the products of human creativity:
In the 1880s, the same court that confirmed that Congress could define (and redefine) what is and isn't intellectual property also decided racial discrimination was legal and created corporate personhood
One could argue that the profits of AI should be returned to the people, and that will provide all of the excess infrastructure AI needs and pay for the cost of living of all of the unemployed workers
But to get there one has to take the (currently rather delirious) optimistic view that AI companies will one day produce revenue in excess of their costs
There actually is one clear use case for orbital data centers:
When all of the other options for places to put a data center on Earth are used up.
I'm not a *complete* hater, I can be objective
I rode bikes today so that's leg day and I don't need to do anything else, right?
right??

The pawn shop stereo broke in several more unique ways today, so I'm back on the prowl
Using budgetary equivalences instead of dollars to aid in decision making
This tape recorder I'm using seems to corrupt both sides of the tape when you record the second side. The audio on both sides gets quiet and staticy. So if I want a good quality taping I can only use side A
Has anyone else ever encountered this? Is my tape recorder just shitty?
I ordered a bunch of blank tapes and a tape recorder from Amazon and they are freaking out. They've since sent me 90 days of Amazon Music and 3 audible credits
I will not be dissuaded

An IPO is a fundraiser
It means they're out of money
And it's not a coincidence they all need public money at the same time
Apparently today was World Bicycle Day and it's a coincidence I chose 20 miles of bike commuting
This is more or less the dull hubris that Starship is operating on. This vehicle is actually walking spaceship engineering backwards by about a hundred years and calling it innovation
What I'm saying is if you have design constraints like "must resemble giant bullet vibrator" and "must complete all mission objectives in a single, self-contained vehicle", you are not actually building a moon lander. You think you are, but what you're actually building has to do everything, so it's good at nothing in particular other than looking like a giant bullet vibrator. And since it has to do everything and has no specialty, it's just something that may possibly land despite your terrible choices. This capability (if you can call it that) is owed largely to gravity: luckily for you, the moon has some
So basically, like, in Kerbal Space Program, there are two ways to go to the moon
The first is you design your own moon-trip system: a launcher, an upper stage, a lander, lunar ascent and return stages. It's complicated, you're inexperienced, lots of things go wrong. Maybe you overbuild and merge a few of those stages to "reduce complexity". What you don't think about is how you're effectively pooling all of the mission risk onto bigger and bigger craft, and the whole thing is a sweaty nightmare to fly because your massive vehicle is now constrained to a pillar shape, you probably see where I'm going with this
The second is you load up a mod that has Apollo vehicle analogues. Now your moon mission has 2-3 times as many stages: a service module, a return capsule, a lunar descent stage, a lunar ascent stage... and suddenly, landing is easy. Your LEM is purpose built and has nothing extra. It lands like a dream: it's almost as if it was designed by geniuses to go down to the moon and come back up again
Executive dysfunctional brain, sitting in front of their own todo list: "I need dirt"
The list: *does not have anything to do with getting dirt*
Brain: "You know, for my little plants, for when they get bigger"
The list: *zero yardwork*
Brain: "I'm just getting ahead of next week's list"
This list: *has been here for months*
When I filed to get out of jury duty, the judge's office held my paperwork and didn't process it because they "knew" the defendant was going to take a plea bargain and there wasn't going to be a trial. This made my request moot and disposable
That was some top-tier paperwork handling, in my opinion. That's a fine judge
Here's a legitimate question: why is a jury deciding if a claim has been filed within the statute of limitations?
Since it was the case that the statute of limitations had expired on Musk's complaint, why didn't the judge throw it out? Isn't that why we have judges?
"how did you decide which chair to get"
Great question I'm glad you asked
This one featured a basic white girl with a crew neck sweatshirt sitting cross-legged in it, in every product photo. I said yep that's me
