The safety of our children is too important. Today I’m writing to my MP to ban the number 4.

This will sound like I don't know basic programming, but in Ruby, is there is a better way of turning a number negative than;

number.abs * -1

I almost feel like abs needs a little negative friend.

Just heard #Farage say if you followed any political party about you’d find people saying abhorrent things.

I’ve been on several things now with @greenpartyni and can safely say you do not hear anything close to what #Reform have been repeatedly caught saying.

So don’t be tarring everyone with your filthy brush, Nige. Some of us are actively anti-racist, anti-sexist, and of course, anti-fascist.

I’m not a fan of all this running to and from the courts. Such a waste of time and money.

The residents when reading out the verdict (predictably, it was found to be lawful, unsure why anyone thought it wouldn’t be a lawful decision) they mentioned it’s academic. Which is true, but why bother then?

Ditto the OO trying to go through the courts to quash a thing that is clearly fine, and they’ve said they only have a slim (spin for fuck all) chance.

Gah!

I think the call for a vote of no confidence in the First Minister is fair (and it is fair that of course it will not succeed), but all this talk of having the Deputy step down just to force a collapse is gross.

Any politician in NI that openly wants to collapse Stormont shouldn’t be allowed to be a politician.

We all need to work with each other for goodness sake.

Ruh-roh - reports folk want #CarlaLockhart to run for #DUP leadership off the back of this.

I foresee more returning to the 90s with the UUP being the dominant unionist party.

Which, given the alternative is a move towards TUV populism, isn’t the worst thing.

Chris Bryant has made the right call here.

I don’t love that our systems are such that we needed London to step in, but sensible policing and political decision.

Nothing to worry about if you’re an American who enjoys the idea of democracy, I’m sure.

> Washington joins only Russia and Belarus in its decision to exclude OSCE observers.

Glad we’ve spent £3 million policing this; so far.

🙄

Something that’s interesting about social media and Drumcree is we’re seeing video and updates from folk protesting, seeing singing and dancing and “good vibes”. For example one of my favourite bands at the moment are heading down to support the residents.

I presume this also happened in the 90s, but because we relied on the news, you’d never see it; either because they wanted to paint one side a certain way, or because it isn’t newsworthy when more serious stuff is happening.

I see at least some school children in the area are missing school tomorrow because of this.

The Orange Order need to pack up and go home.

The claim is that because the Parades Commission allowed it they have a legal right.

What is happening on the ground was entirely predictable and exactly why the Commission made the wrong call. For dear sake the Commission was set up off the back of what happened here before.

For those confused about Drumcree: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drumcree_conflict

Currently one of the main articles on the BBC, love that the rest of the UK gets to see our backwards side yet again. Oh wait, not love, throughly-depressed-by

My hope is things remain peaceful.

I’m not against parades. I know plenty of people rank them as significant parts of their culture.

I do think, for what is meant to be a christian organisation, they have absolutely no regard for their fellow humans and the hurt their parades represent.

Deciding on a “non-traditional” route feels like an obvious way to defuse tension and keep things positive.

It isn’t a concession to show respect to your neighbours.

The Parades Commission allowing Drumcree is one of the most insane things I’ve read in the news recently (which, if you’ve read the news, there is stiff competition).

My dad had to work during the Drumcree stand-offs in the 90’s, even though I was very young I remember them very well.

To think we’re opting to return in any way to that. It is an act of self-harm, it will open old wounds and bring back bitterness that the vast majority of us want to move away from.

Have to say, I’ve quite enjoyed doing this in the week, will share some snaps on Sunday!

Today is the last day to put your name against this petition to launch a public inquiry into the impact of Section 28 on LGBTQ people

https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/760231

Please sign and share. Without understanding the harms, we are very likely to repeat the same mistakes in the future.

I’m doing a thing with a group chat that might be fun for others if you want to play along.

This week, take a photo or two of something that is yellow. Next Sunday you can share what pic(s) you took in this thread.

The rules are;

- There’s no winners, just a cute task to maybe help you notice more things around you this week.
- You can share as many pics as you want, but you have to pick a favourite
- Each week I will share a new prompt, you can interpret it how you see fit

Some absolute gaunch vandalised The Big Fish in Belfast. Who does that?!

The suspect is 44 years old apparently. Buck eejit.

I also don’t understand companies who allow their web agency to stick a dirty great “made by web design blah blah” in their footer.

You paid enough, you don’t need to also give them free advertising!

Also, it’s cringy as hell to stick this in. Web developers - stop it!

It baffles me how many people leave the stickers on their car windows showcasing who they bought it from.

You don’t owe them the advertising space. You paid/are paying enough for it!
