These pest control guys are very brave.
Apparently they take some of the captured hornet species to researchers.

I don't know why this is, but I do know that it is: if you come into Euraxess from a US IP, you are not able to filter your search. It'll look as if it's going to do it, but instead it'll show all results.
In fact, if you have the URL for a previous search and try that as a workaround, it'll just rejigger to show you all results.

I'd like to actually learn about plants from plants themselves.
Especially when climate change has accelerated and growers are really thrown for a loop by it, I would like a funded PhD where I could actually work with tree crop plants in the macro. 🌳
There's a lot of diversity in avocados. Most consumers never see it because modern produce distribution and marketing doesn't want to handle that many different varieties.
There have been giant avocados before. The noteworthy thing here is that they're saying it has other qualities you'd want in a fruit you can mass market.

The most famous avocado variety in the world is 'Hass' and it was also a chance seedling. There are still fruits in the world that were not specifically bred, but just came up from a seed no one was paying attention to at the time.
IMO, it would be worth planting more and more seedlings to see what comes up but the price of land is at such a premium that breeding programs are constantly cutting back.
