this site is very slow today... and not surprisingly, downdetector won't show the domain.

Can anyone recommend a decent online basic astronomy course? Just got my first real telescope and wish to have some foundational basics in an organized manner.
The telescope mfg's tutorials are all just adverts...

Another significant question for your poll on polls:

How many responses do you normally get to your polls?

For me it’s zero. So much so I stopped doing polls…

So, one of the things I’ve never had the expertise to think through…
Why haven’t we equated our public #PGP keys with our logon process for websites. Each site could have a private portion that needed to be validated with the public bits for the equivalent of #DigitalID . I know I’m missing crucial bits but not sure what.
Ideas anybody?

I always am appalled when someone on the Right says, ‘We should run X (a variable here, not Twitter…) like a business.’ (Aside: Twitter was NEVER just a biz.) It simply means, ‘I want to extract cash from some person’s suffering.’
This is why Universal Healthcare is so important. (#Medicare for All is an abomination of abuses!) Your health, & your neighbor’s should not be a profit center!

A raging debate… Is it

Interesting concept. When was the last time you saw a longterm general strike at a US corporation?

Been an interesting month.
1. My physician decided that business was so bad in my county that they would do better and left the state. No physician for me.
2. Had a set of refills on my meds still pending but the office left at my former physician refuses to send to a pharmacy. So, I'm out of meds.
3. My Medicare plan decided to pull out of my county because Trump has axed all subsidies. I will be without a Medicare plan as of 1 JAN 26
4. No Medicare means no vision plan, dental plan, etc.

Just happened to be in Chico CA this morning. #NoKings #NorCal Stood watching the line of protesters snake through the downtown when a woman and two kids came and stood beside me. We marveled.
“I’ve never seen anything like this before,” she said. “I have,” I replied, “but not since the ‘70s & #Vietnam .”

Whats that far rifgt saying Mr Kirk? As you sow, so shall you reap.
Guess there was some truth to that wasn’t there.

So why can’t we have nice things like this? Because various political asshats are trying to kill green energy in the US.
Yes! I’m pointing at you #newsom
Stop killing solar and wind energy!

It will be interesting to see what happens when the AI integrated into the system hallucinates events in air, in real time…

A post for the geeks…
When Battlestar Galactic’s Adama was asked why he didn’t favor using his military for policing or riot control he replied, "When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tend to become the people."
Funny how a fictional military leader has more smarts than our own marine corps ( not to mention #DumKopfDonnie )

In my opinion, canceling the Prime Subscription is the more impactful statement. With all the hubbub about WaPo they may just as well have made the endorsement. Everyone knows it was suppressed.
Amazon, however, is under federal investigations for all its shenanigans and needs a monetary kick in the patoot. Don’t let Amazon run unchecked. It simply encourages more shenanigans.

I am a little stunned that no one on the Left is paying any attention to the fact #Trump was shot at by someone one the Right! Did they not think he was wacked out enough?
@GottaLaff

Back in the 80’s I worked at a custom electrical engineering firm. It was owned by two Iranian ex-pat brothers who couldn’t go home because their family had been slaughtered by the imams and Guard. Nobody in their family ever thought the extremists would ever go so far and radically change Iran. I remember their grief when I think about Project 2025.
Remember, good Southern ‘Christian’ women like their men to be a touch crazy.

Too bad it doesn’t work very well. Although, I suppose that random disconnection does keep your data from leaking out. Too bad Proton has no commitment to making this product as solid as its mail.
