Did I just write almost 5000 words about why generative "AI" should be resisted, going through every single one of my reasons?
Yes. Because I need this article to exist so I can point people to it.
Enjoy and share widely.

I keep seeing people describe the character.ai bankruptcy as the first AI bubble domino, so I’m glad to see some reporting on what’s *actually* going on here: https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2026/10/disney-found-a-way-to-buy-character-ai-without-buying-its-lawsuits/
This is a way for Disney to buy the company without really buying the company, so they can avoid antitrust. It also gets them out of inheriting the active lawsuits. Character.ai has been through this once already - what’s left of the company is kind of a shell after Google hired key employees & licensed their tech.
The police get taxpayer money to protect the assets of the wealthy, many of whom don't pay taxes, from the masses, who mostly do pay taxes.
When the police start focusing on protecting the masses and solving crimes committed against the masses, they'll get my full support.
Until then....

Next year? he's ramping things up; we used to be 5-10 years out on his promises... this must be about the midterms, I'm sure it'll go just as well as him ending world hunger.
I wonder how many other "AI-forward" startups are there out there, promising the moon like this while offloading all the critical thinking to an LLM
Had dinner with a friend last night who is moving from Salt Lake City to LA to join a startup. Over dinner she told me that the startup intends to buy a massive US corporation. She's confident that's going to happen.
I was skeptical that was going to be possible to begin with. Then she told me their CEO used AI to design some major parts of their plan, and that the company's engineers are looking at what they're supposed to build and saying it doesn't make any sense.
She's drunk the kool-aid though. She's a true believer. She's gone into debt to buy equity.
How many times does tech have to show how much they hate you before people start understanding that tech hates you and hates all of us? BTW, to find them on Mastodon, @indivisibleteam but the article is at https://www.rawstory.com/no-kings-2678101228/ #NoKings #SocialMedia

My hero, making well loved free culture assets slop free for ages which nearly everyone in gamedev at some point use, literally speaking truth to power

seems like the attrition rate for any #Pittsburgh Tech Community is the same as any other tech: 3-5 years... where did everyone go?
I bet companies in the town of Remote Oregon are getting tired of receiving AI-generated resumes from all around the world...
*[The editor of the Wall Street Journal] said the tactic of suing newspapers before they had published a story had become an established PR strategy of the powerful amid greater distrust of the established media.*
the funny thing about it costing 56000 dollars to decompile a handheld game from 20 years ago using AI is that it *is* way cheaper than what it would cost for a skilled programmer to do that by hand, but ... nobody was ever getting paid to do that work.
i never really considered the fact that every vibecoded project will just be an individual thing regardless of wether or not there are others of the exact thing existing already
so it is just creating mass amounts of waste
every prompt loser is reinventing the wheel for every possible thing every time they use it
for no real purpose
btw apparently these decompile things will cost $56,000 when ai companies will have to start actually charging people

HP stands for Horrible Printer
Everyone who thinks an LLM is as good as a junior programmer is, in fact, exactly what we call "the problem".
