It works! Here's what the modded menu looks like with the new "Free Mode" / splitscreen options. Very cool. Long live PC gaming!

English is dumb 🤣

I doubt anyone has missed it, but just in case this for some reason is the message you see: PHP has some critical security problems. You should probably act now!

Oh interesting! GNOME OS isn't intended strictly for the developer community anymore. There's now a GNOME OS "Preview" build that aims to appeal to a wider user base.

"[...] we’re feeling confident that Preview is going to be reliable enough for daily use by non-developer enthusiasts."

"[...] long-term our goal is an OS for the broader public [...]"

Developers: "Sorry, no split-screen for Star Wars Galactic Racer."
Gamers: "Not so fast..."

(This is a timely find, since my best friend is visiting tomorrow and I've been hyping this up to her!)

And yes, it works with Proton / Linux!

Be honest: how long had you used #Steam before realizing you could download multiple games at once?

(It was SEVERAL years for me... I decline to divulge exactly how many!)

It’s my first day as Communications Specialist for @gnome Foundation! Let’s goooooo!

Ok.
Sony should be terrified.
This was also way too easy.

Well, that was shockingly easy.
Chuckled a bit at this notification, a rather spiteful play on Sony's own PlayStation marketing...

Today feels like a good day to jailbreak my PS5.

There's a new spam wave, messages with lots of names and a link. Here's what to do:

1. DO NOT CLICK THE LINK IN THE SPAM
2. Click ⋯ on the spam post, then "report", and then follow the instructions. If you are given an option to forward the report anonymously, use it, because forwarded reports help cut off the spam at source.
3. Spam seems to be via account takeovers. To prevent this, use a unique password and consider using "two factor authentication" (more info at https://fedi.tips/using-two-factor-authentication-2fa-on-mastodon )

Milky Way
Valley of the Gods, UT

Long exposure from my campsite last week. (I also took lots of short exposures and hope to stack them to get a sharper result, but haven't done that before.)

"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to...
Ummm, is that wave gonna hit us?"

If you’re ever on the Central Coast of California, drive to Montana de Oro State Park, and hike the Bluff Trail. You will not regret it.

And take all the little spur trails! You’ll see all the high tide drama and sweeping ocean views.

Also, I took a bajillion photos with my Canon. I’ll put them up on my #pixelfed account when I have time. ( @killyourfm@pxlmo.com )

California is pretty ok sometimes 🤩💙

I've had some memorable October 15ths.

In 2017, I was spending my first adventurous week in Croatia, experiencing the delicious traditional Bosnian dish "Kvrguša" alongside the thickest, richest Turkish coffee I've ever sipped. And experiencing a whole lot of culture shock (but in the best way).

And on October 15, 2023, I arrived at Yosemite's North Pines campground to begin my first backpacking trip! (If you ever want to read about that, it's here: https://seasonsofjason.com/yosemite-solo-backpacking-day-1-curry-village-to-little-yosemite-valley-2/)

Sometimes I joke about this timeline being a dumpster fire, but then I see that an official Fortnite client is coming to Linux. Which ALSO means pigs HAVE learned how to fly. And I smile a bit...

(No, I don't play Fortnite, but the biggest game in the world finally getting official Linux support is a massive thing, and it WILL start a positive snowball effect.)
