Shared this yesterday, would appreciate boosts and, if you up for it, buy the book.
I find being this direct about it hard but seriously, if you want to do one thing to help someone today, buy my book.
I've been told it's not awful.
My queer sci-fi-ish book ‘The Boy From Elsewhere’ is currently 40% off via the Bezosphere.
It’s full price to buy it direct but I get more of the royalties that way.
Either way, if just half my followers picked up a copy, wherever in the world they are, I’d get a desperately needed boost.
Times are hard for creatives. Queer creatives doubly so. Please consider grabbing a cool book and supporting this one?
In 2006, Microsoft Excel generally used around 34MB of your RAM to open up a spreadsheet with a reasonable set of data in it.
Today I opened up a spreadsheet with about 100 rows of simple data and it's using just under a gigabyte.
Tell me again how that's progress.
I have not seen anyone point out since last week's revelations that if you count in binary on your fingers, 4 is 🖕.
I’m not usually a fan of self promotion but honestly needs must. I’d appreciate any boosts on my last post, I’d love to see more folk reading my books!

PS there’s an even cooler sequel out in February so if you get this one now you don’t have long to wait until the next instalment..:
I am a doctor. I wish that I could prescribe dildos to people. We could in the Victorian era. The amount of people these days getting random household objects stuck in their arses is getting ridiculous. Please, you're an adult, just get a proper and safe dildo, for fuck's sake.
Dear fedi I'm livid. An acquaintance of mine almost finished college and after doing an *unpaid* six months internship was offered a follow-up contract for less than 500€ a month. If you wonder why European young people are mad that's pretty much why.
I'll be doing anything in my power to make sure he'll never work there so if you have an opening or internship for a young person starting his career let me know.
He'll finish the equivalent of a bachelor in computer science in May next year, has done some six months of hands-on work in security and is one hell of a worker. I can personally vouch for him. He's based in Italy and can do both in-person and remote work, and might be able to relocate to the NL and possibly the UK if need be.
Boosts appreciated.
This is what's in the manual of my 1989 alarm clock in case you didn't know what we lost in repairability in just 10 - 20 years
Yeah? Well your mom runs on PHP.
“I am proud to say that as part of our new union contract, Current Affairs recently adopted one of the strictest anti-AI policies in the publishing industry. No text that is AI-generated may be published in our magazine. No AI-generated art may be used as a Current Affairs illustration. When you read Current Affairs, you are going to be reading the thoughts of a human, and seeing the results of human artistry.”

If a red-eared slider turtle could make a web page, maybe you should give it a try too?
I'm at the Young Adult Literature Convention next weekend chairing a worldbuilding panel, signing some books, and generally hanging out and chatting. If you're in London or nearby, do come along! It'd be great to see you there! #YALC #Bookstodon
Move to the west coast of Scotland, I said. What could go wrong, I said.
Thanks #StormBoelo.
I see more and more people fighting back against AI every day - but at the same time - I see a disheartening number of people 'giving up' and using it for writing, music, creative pursuits.
Giving in doesn't just impact yourself. It impacts all of us. And that's depressing, stressful, and unfair - ESPECIALLY if you're in the creative world. We MUST not let AI take jobs, work, originality from ANY of the arts.
I was in a taxi the other day, an electric Toyota, and it was constantly bugging the driver with various “driver safety aids”, like literally a stream of bongs and chimes and sirens. And half of them were “driver inattention! Sit up and look forwards!” He was sitting up and looking forwards, but also he was black, so the car’s interior camera was not registering him properly. But hey, tech is neutral and AI doesn’t encode bias.
Phew this is a STORM and a HALF
Happy #Caturday fro- HELP THEY HAVE ME IN A CAGE OF SADNESS WHAT IS THIS WHYYYYYY
