Winter is Coming...

#BonkWave #NotBonkWave #FSoBW #FourSeasonsOfBonkWave #Winter

One of my contacts posted their one of these and I thought it looked like fun, but I've managed to lose the original post, don't know who it was, sorry!

Courtesy of https://my9albums.org/, and would be a completely different set on another day, but this is what I came up with today.

@defaultmediatransmitter

I'm constantly blown away by the creativity of artists on the fedi.. I wouldn't even know where to start in making something like this stuff.

If you missed it last year, DMT's incredible album "The machines are having fun" is available here:

Fabulous (re)stream by @defaultmediatransmitter "Please accept my sincere topologies" is till my fave track from the last little while.

.. and sneak previews of what sounds like a great remix album coming soon, featuring some usual suspects and some less-usual ones!

Play Tears For Fears!! #totp

Probably #NotBonkWave. But you never can tell...

I did some proper "knob twiddling" on this for the bass line, not that you can really tell, but I had several parameters mapped to MIDI channels and did a live take using my MPK mini's pots.

Unusually, for me, most of this was done with live takes improvised across the full track length, rather than built up/arranged in sections.

Given the quick late night mix/master yesterday I think this turned out OK, listening back.

Random new track. Not properly mastered or anything.. but it's new Key 13 music. It's just a retro-styled improv.

Maybe it's time to seriously investigate those alternative UIs.

I have Phanpy installed somewhere for use with the Gotosocial server - it's OK but didn't really grab me. Any other options I should look at?

Speaking of stupid UI changes, what on earth has happened to #Mastodon's web interface - is that a bug?!! Please don't tell me this is the new interface, it's awful...

[I'm on mastodon.online, so I get the new stuff before everyone else I guess - but honestly you don't want this one..]

For those few of us still using Firefox, and hating the new extra-rounded tabs in v157 (seriously, does anyone actually *like* these?!!), the solution turns out to be quite simple:

* type "about:config" in the URL bar
* search for "nova"
* set "browser.nova.enabled" to false

Note: I haven't yet figured out if this has other side effects, but it makes the tabs look usable again.

Hang on, there's a random hourly duck bot??? And I wasn't following it?!

Rectified.

@sknob

For anyone signing up to the BonkBoard forum - you are very welcome, but please include some kind of link such as a fedi account, web page or Bandcamp/Mirlo etc so that we can tell that you're a real person.. thanks!

Has anyone successfully migrated an account from #pixelfed to #vernissage ..?

Pinging @vernissage in case they know..

[yes I know there's current fedidrama around pixelfed.social and migrations but I'm talking about a different PF instance that appears to have migrations enabled]

Apparently SoundCloud makes it look like you have to log in to play this (you don't, there's an 'X' that closes the popup to right.. but..)

So:

https://mirlo.space/key13/posts/colander-multiclipse/

OK, I know, it's late - headphone mix so probably sounds bad.. and everyone hates SoundCloud.

But - written and recorded in a few hours this evening since I made this post:

Edit to add Mirlo link for those who *really* hate SoundCloud: https://mirlo.space/key13/posts/colander-multiclipse/

"Colander Multiclipse" sounds like a Boards of Canada track title...
