entering the 50th year of my meaningless useless existence...

#smolbsd sparks joy! Added the compiler set to the nbakery service and had a mini dev environment within minutes! Even used it to check the latest #ECL 26.3 release on it.

Fantastic work iMil!

I'm Indian but my tummy is Italian.

This is a clever use of secmodel+kauth to implement jail-like process isolation on #netbsd

This happened yesterday:

I was handing over a laptop with the BSD Cafe sticker to a student of mine, and the recipient wanted to remove the sticker for reasons including misalignment, not actually running BSD, etc. I tried saying things like "Steffano got the sticker from Italy etc..." nothing was working. Finally, said "it's his birthday today!" and got a "Oooh..." and the sticker was saved!

Diwali, and the town was lit by fireworks yesday. finally good weather here in Pondy...yet feeling very low.

deeply saddened by 'Danya' Naroditsky's passing. he was just 29! The good ones are taken too soon... life's cruel.

Plasma 6 on #FreeBSD simply reboots the machine after an hour or so. Nothing heavy running on the machine. Sadly no logs, core files etc. just reboots. Don't have the energy to look into this now. Sadly, the desktops are all Linux first and bring in a lot of Linuxisms. I used to use i3 earlier but these days I don't want to tweak config files. GNUstep? Lumina?

long work week comes to an end. to shake off the dread, dusting off some old software that I wanted to work on for a while now...

step 0: move off github to brew.bsd.cafe.

Sad I won't be going to Zagreb this year. Too much churn at $WORK. Meanwhile, piece of Zagreb or rather Zagreb pieces...

#FreeBSD people, does anyone know what the project is planning to do wrt phabricator? switching to phorge or to something else entirely?

been away for a month... work, life, whatnot... so hello again!

Happy holidays fine folks! A few.days of downtime for me... See y'all in 2025.

@davmac's Dinit is *really* nice. Came across it when (briefly) test driving Chimera Linux where it *is* the system init. Eagerly awaiting 1.0.

As is typical of good C++ projects, there is a neat little library for working with POSIXy event loops.

does #FreeBSD run on the bluefield DPUs? The linuxification of tech is depressing to watch.

The NetBSD project's annual donation drive is about 20% short of its goal of $50k. With 2024 approaching its end, now is a good time to send some coin their way.

Cyclone fengal making landfall nearby. Wind speed building up steadily. Expected to hit 90kmph... interesting start to the weekend.

Disk failure first up on a Sunday...😔

There is so much good stuff in the #npf code base... #joy
