So, like an escort service, but a woman just holds you while you cry for an hour... is that anything?

Not the first time I've been incited to think "JESUS CHRIST, BEAVERTON"

Well crap, it's only the 6th and I've managed to fail #NoTober. :blobcat_flopdaze:

But there was a Drink and Draw last night and I had to draw something. The theme of the evening happened to be #Inktober, so I doodled a bunch of prompts from that list (which I've listed in the alt text).

...Oh, and I was told a group of jellyfish is called a "smack," just in case that context helps at all here

Techy #AskFedi question: you know how public TLS cert CAs are changing standard expiry to, like, 45 days? What are people doing to automate renewal for "legacy" systems and appliances?

I've got Apache/Tomcat (on Linux boxes that don't all belong to me and can't have new software installed), IIS (Windows), and a slew of applications with unique UIs and generally no APIs.

I know I will still be doing a lot of manual/scripted updates, but is there any general/friendly solution to *lessen* that?

Proud to still be on track this month

Wait... what?? NOOOOOOOO

(Actually, someone in the reviews tried running the game on Steam Deck and it worked well enough, I suppose I can give it a go)

#CuteGirltober2026 list just dropped! It's the annual drawing challenge prompts from oceaninspace (via https://www.instagram.com/p/DdmAd38keg4)

And this year they are introducing #PrettyBoytober which I suppose is only fair!

This is a great collection of non-American online services, with loads of info and context for each option. Focuses on Canadian operations, but includes international alternatives to fill the gaps.

I'm particularly intrigued by Panierdachat¹, a Quebec-based e-commerce service, and Helcim², a Calgary-based payment processor. Also several print-on-demand options.

(Intentionally not revealing the design until I have them in my hands, it's a surprise for y'all and/or power trip for me :BlobCat_SipSmile: )

I submitted a sticker sheet design for printing! Ideally, the results will arrive early next week. Ideally, I will not have screwed up the image uploads. I spent too much time defining my own cutlines on the image, then finding the right permutation of file formats and upload order in the manufacturer's web UI to look how I want.

I don't know what to do with them yet 🙃 though I'd like to sell them—I just need to figure out how. But I didn't want that uncertainty to stop me from possessing them.

Update: I removed root from my Pixel 7 Pro, and RCS works again. Phew.

Google Wallet will not allow tap-to-pay, which confused me a bit until I remembered my bootloader is still unlocked (a state that can generally be hidden when rooted). I can live without that though. Especially since relocking the bootloader wipes all data on the phone. :blobcat_flopdaze:

I guess I need to pony up the subscription fee for ibisPaint to store my images online, before anything happens to wreck my phone somehow

Heck yeah I'm getting in on this

Polyam cis man, ND and socially anxious, seeking a femme for openness, intimacy, and two-way support. It would be fun to dork out together, share some sexy shenanigans, or just carve some comfort out of a generally uncomfortable existence. If you're feeling touch-starved, I am going to freakin' fix that. :blobcat_meltnom:

It's impossible to predict whether any given app will back up its data to your Google account. ibisPaint notably *does not*, and instead they offer their Premium paid subscription that provides 20 GB of cloud storage for your gallery. That would at least preserve my drawings in the event of a lost/damaged phone, but I could still never get those files out of the app.

But I'm so tired of the technical gymnastics needed to maintain a working rooted phone. It's not worth it if it can't fix RCS.

This is so weird. If I Google "Luna Mechwright" or "Mecha Dash Rumble" there are absolutely ZERO results, and a Lens search brings up unrelated images (mainly Overwatch).

It's clearly a non-existent video game character conjured up to fill space in a hypothetical gamer's room at IKEA, but has no one else in the world remarked on it before me??

Is this prop unique to the Toronto region, or even just the Etobicoke store? Is the art AI-generated or commissioned? Who will draw the first fan art?

Guess Johann's current hyperfixation!

This is either Misa Hayase from #Macross, or Lisa Hayes from #Robotech

#JSSArt

I think Lisa Hayes was my first anime crush 😳

(She's Misa Hayase now)

(But still the best crew member)

More stuff drawn at in-person meetups over the summer. Thank goodness for peer pressure or I may not have drawn anything this year :A_BlobCat_Derp:

The theme for Drink and Draw last night was "Space Creature"
