loved running around town with that camera in my pocket. it was so liberating after a few years with the hasselblad.

back then a roll of b&w film was 300¥ / 2€, development at home way cheap, which left the frustration of scanning negatives as the limit. the city is endless and ever changing... always something new and a new way to see it.

think i knew at the time that a medium format camera isn't idea for "street photography" but it was a great challenge. there were a couple of us giving it a go and, oh my, did we make a time of it :)

looking at it now i realise that i probably didn't process these - the first one isn't even straight / level.

oops :)

"follow up" but these were actually all taken on a "fact finding mission" before returning with the hasselblad.

while it's always great to look through the hassle viewfinder, it's not great to carry it everywhere...

spent a lot of time wandering around tokyo at night with the hassle - there were lots of options for today's theme. this is one of my favourites... as usual there are variations on the theme, ad nauseam.

can't recall now, but suspect that this would have been taken with the 30mm lens... it's a pretty wide shot. 30mm on the xpan is ~17mm 135 equivalent.
