I've mostly spent the day neck deep in MuseScore trying to extract parts from "I Can't Tell you Why" (Eagles, "The Long Run", 1979). The damn song has been stuck in my head for three days now, and even tearing is apart bar by bar, voice by voice, I still haven't grown tired of it.

Henley's drum parts are sparse and tasty, and work perfectly with Schmit's bass. Fender Rhodes, organ, and synth are buried in the mix, but are the cake all that tasty frosting and filling hinges on. But the vocals are what have always caught my ear - Schmit is fantastic, and the backup Henley/Frey are perfect.

Tearing a piece apart usually gets it out of my head. So far, not yet. Also - I haven't used Sibelius for a decade, but I *still* can't get those keyboard shortcuts out of my fingers (and they do not work for MuseScore). I'm not sure what bugs my neighbors more - me trying to sing vocal parts, or me yelling profanities whenever MuseScore and I are fighting.

This is an earworm, at least for me. I had no idea it was Eagles - I thought it might have been Foreigner. I was singing it in the car running errands and figured I ought to find out. Now it's on repeat on YouTube, and it'll likely stay there for another hour.

What a great tune and vamp. The shifts between major and minor are seamless and feel great every time. The backup vocals are perfect. The lead vocals are sublime. The rhythm guitar panned left, with echo panned right - tasty. The drums, Rhodes, and Hammond all restrained but never draggy or boring.
