Heh, I half-expected this to not work, but it did work

Why would anyone even consider eating one of these? What kind of person do you have to be for that to cross your mind at all 🤔🤔
Also I suppose you can eat it if you can't read English.

How does this even happen 🤔

I think I know why people on Instagram post more stories than every other type of content.

Stories are the only type of content there that isn't subject to the algorithm. You only see stories from people you follow. They are sorted somewhat algorithmically, but I believe it's just based on how much you interact with that person.

So, does this mean that almost everyone subconsciously wants non-algorithmic social media?

@TechConnectify giving a bit of a rant about most software being perpetually unfinished was entirely unexpected but very welcome.

Seemingly all iOS developers are excited about their apps breaking on the iPhone Duo.

Android development is so boring in this regard. We've had folding devices for years now but every Android device that came out in the last 10 years has the status bar at the top of the screen. The API allows it to be on the side like on that iPhone, but to my knowledge that has never been done.

Hardly anyone supports tablets in the first place, it's often just a phone UI stretched to a larger screen.

Why are there no modchips for jailbreaking iPhones the same way there are for game consoles?

Why does macOS not have a GUI tool to make symlinks?!

"ChatGPT started showing ads in Europe". All those claims to civilization-altering superintelligence, yet their monetization endgame is just ads. Lmao.

Question for fediverse server admins and moderators — in the list of servers yours federates with, how would you prefer them to be sorted?

Signal really hates its users

"you're a luddite"
"you will be left behind"
"that's progress, you are stupid for not following it"

Thanks, can I please get that printed on a t-shirt or something

A recurring theme in my conversations with people trying to get me to use AI is that it would "improve my workflow". But what if I'm already completely satisfied with my workflow, and am not looking to "improve" it any way whatsoever? To that, seemingly no one has an answer.

I'm adding support for multiple public keys per actor in Smithereen for future-proofing purposes. Are there any signature algorithms other than RSA currently in use on the fediverse? ECDSA maybe?

Android 17 has this nice feature where if you update an app (even via adb) while it's open, it'll relaunch it automatically after the update is done installing.

"You should target the latest Android version" but at the same time no instructions on how to do that, lol. A classic case of Google being Google.

First post-1.0 #Smithereen feature: post search.

Some people say that Codeberg is better than Github, yet it keeps logging me out for no good reason at all. So I use Github to log back in because Github keeps me logged in forever.
