Chuckling at the idea of all the Gondorian kids going on school trips each year to the Museum of the War of the Last Alliance to see the One Ring on display in a bulletproof glass case

See, THIS is what the Internet is supposed to be for

scare your kids this halloween by telling them stories about "the fetterman"

Okay the guy ought to be in jail I know, but it's at least slightly amusing to me that every BBC article about him now always seems to include that unflattering photo of him in the car looking completely deranged

I realized today that the reason my MacBook's webcam lens is always smeared is because the industrial design encourages the user to put their finger on it every time they open the lid. Another piece of amazing design from Apple's genius designers

can't believe that ice cube won a nobel prize

TIL vim has built-in encryption. If you type :X it prompts you for a passphrase and after saving the file it will be stored in encrypted form. When you reopen the file in vim it detects the encrypted format and prompts you for the passphrase to decrypt, so it's completely transparent. It uses the blowfish cipher, which is pretty old now but still considered secure, so long as it's only used for small files

Andy "Burn 'em" becomes prime minister and within weeks the country is burned to a crisp, satellite maps showing it looking like a literal desert, houses on fire and people fleeing their burning homes. Who wrote this shit because it seems like the JK Rowling school of lazy character naming

Github really pushing the limits of "how unusable can we make our product and have people continue to use it?"

There's not a whole lot I can do but I have posted a response on the official Freedoom YouTube channel disavowing any involvement. If you have a YouTube account and hate crypto scams too, please take a second to hit the like button.

The scam involves playing Doom to earn virtual currency, but it actually uses Freedoom rather than the original game. So as the original founder of the Freedoom project it's been doubly disappointing to see.

Some people are aware that Sandy Petersen has this week been endorsing a cryptocurrency scam. Petersen is one of the original level authors for Doom II. As a Doom fan it's really disappointing to see
