hmm no I'm still getting random whiffs when I go to different parts of my living room. maybe just pockets of stale air though?

anyway yeah having cleaned off the disgusting overcrusted food plate and turning up my air filter has gotten rid of the stench, or maybe I'm just used to the smell again and it always was here like the dude insists but I don't think that's actually true.

My stuff is part of the itch.io Halloween sale, as usual. https://itch.io/s/211835/halloween-sale-2026

ok fiona wants more laptime so I guess that'll be my life for the rest of the day

oh also some of my plants are dead and like, yeah ,maybe I didn't remember to ask him to do it specifically but shouldn't it be obvious? I didn't also hire a plant sitter

I just wonder what the fuck he was doing with the 30 minutes per visit, two visits per day, for the past week

anyway I'm fucking exhausted but I don't want to take a nap right now so I guess I'll finally install the new shop lights in my basement or something idk

oh and I did actually ask him to bring in my trash bin from the street but it was still sitting on the curb when I got here, which was my first sign that something was amiss.

not a big deal, but, y'know. lack of attention to basic details. I should have probably at least reminded him of that on Thursday though.

but also like. he didn't take in any mail, because apparently I never asked him to do it, but like, I'm pretty sure I did, and even if I didn't, isn't that just like. standard practice for someone housesitting for a week? it should be fucking obvious to do?

fortunately I didn't have any important mail, just a bunch of spam. but still.

I'm guessing this smell is the stench of rotting cat food and it'll just subside over the next couple days, I hope. It's only in the dining and living room and not in any other part of my house.

also I really should have taken pictures of the mess left because he claimed that it was just a little left-over food from last night's meal on the plate but there were definitely, like, three cans' worth of rotting cat food in a pile

anyway gotta figure out where this fucking Aroma is coming from. the sitter claims that my home smelled like this the whole time but it definitely didn't smell this way when I left.

it's a very *familiar* smell but I can't quite place it.

Every 'gig economy' pet sitter I've hired has turned out this way, so I guess next time I travel I should just get the neighbor kids to do it

anyway i got home at 3:10 and then immediately found that my house was *stinky* and the pet sitter didn't do things that should have been obvious to do, and in texting it seems that he didn't do things because I didn't specifically tell him to do them (even though one of them was a thing I definitely told him to do)

I am disappointed, especially with how much he cost >:|

If I can get a Lyft quickly then I’ll be home around 3. Nice.

Anyway I’m back on solid ground and my suitcase was one of the first to arrive at the baggage claim. Lucky me!

oh good a seat opened up 20 feet away and I took it, much better

The "made with AI" thing is a good start but I want *more* mandatory disclosures on Steam.

"This game was made by a studio that required devs to work six months of crunch."

"This game was made by union-busters."

"75% of this team was laid off the day after it shipped."

"Profits from this game enrich the Saudi Government."

Any others?

plus side I'm at the airport waiting for my flight home

minus side there's someone sitting nearby with some VERY LOUD perfume and it's triggering my asthma something fierce

For folks with any mobility impairments I highly recommend requesting wheelchair service at the airport. Don't suffer and push through the slog of getting through security and the gate if you don't have to.

I don't know about most airlines but Alaska's wheelchair service is free and super super helpful.
