Feeling almost sorta hopeful about a job thing.
This says more about me than this particular job. The LinkedIn popularity contest game is draining and the opportunist, exploitative, or outright fake job posts infuriating. It’s been a rough six months and it’s been hard to feel hopeful about anything.
Anybody have additional detail about SFPD arresting people at trans march last night? I saw light graffiti, event speakers called for a medic and to clear the street for an ambulance. DEN TSA didn’t like the tiny jar of table salt in my carryon. That’s different. Didn’t care about batteries, including the one in the handheld vacuum.
My fixed wireless ISP can't explain how I get ok upload speeds but terrible down. Tech support says everybody else using this tower is fine. Also this has nothing to do with congestion.
The installer person here today couldn't make sense of it either, same behavior with direct ethernet. Another tech is coming tomorrow.
They also keep pushing managed routers, seemingly because a customer-owned one is always suspicious. Err no.
I followed the diagram but the cable tester was unhappy. I checked the other end of the cable, where my electricians terminated it. I Have Questions.

I can’t remember the last time I terminated an Ethernet cable. But I need to test what my electricians installed in the wall before I schedule the ISP tech to relocate the dish. So here we go.
By some miracle I have my social security card. Also the “Congratulations your baby now has a social security number” form with the typewriter-written name of the hospital where I was born. But I digress.
Between all the required documents and photos, I have six files to upload. I bet you are thinking I can select all of them and upload at once.
Hahaha no.
I have to attach files individually to the request item, starting from my list of all requests. Each uses seven unique screens in the UI.
Today in unemployment WTF:
I must send a ton of personal information, not just identity and residency documents but proof of life. Including a photo of me holding my identity document.
Also a photo of my social security card. Do I even have it? Is it in Colorado or California? Who knows??
My benefits are already suspended for weeks because a human had to read my severance agreement.
"Failure to provide all requested information and documentation may result in continued denial of benefits."
Anybody have recommendations for tools that create "native-like" macOS desktop apps for websites? I want isolated environments for each and I've run out of viable new web browsers to install for each privacy-impaired site I have to use.
I'm using Fluid but it hasn't been updated in years. Eventually Google will stop working with it and not just whine about my unsupported "browser." #macOS
This morning’s service at my UU congregation started off with announcements. Among them:

Attempt 3 to install Catalina on the oldest of the MacBook Air menagerie failed. I was able to internet restore Mountain Lion (!) but it is completely unusable. The App Store application can't find the update server and Safari web search doesn't work. It can't even load the Firefox download page.
Now I'm downloading the Catalina image to make a bootable USB drive.
I'll eventually put Linux on this but wanted to see what I could do with macOS first. The answer seems to be "very little."
Seconds after I posted this, I saw a like notification.

Yes, yes it was.
Fire department came to deliver a roll-off to collect slash from the tree trimming we’ve been doing. Now that we are part of the district we have access to all their community services. Have I mentioned I like paying taxes for services?
One of those is thinning priority areas, like around the emergency access road that crosses my property. They have grant funding for work near the Alexander Mountain fire.
They are thrilled I want to do this. Not everybody will work with agencies.

Required training on bribery and corruption hits different this year. Some of the examples are horrifyingly familiar to anyone reading current news.
The video even starts off with a notice that the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act was suspended by executive order. (For a few months, when it was reinstated the government basically said a little crime here and there is fine if it helps US businesses.)

Bread came out ok. Some holes, decent chew, mild flavor. Good base for something else, like butter. (I just ate almost a tablespoon of butter on a few small pieces.)
Maybe I’ll do this again if I want bread in a hurry. My typical room temperature process takes about 24 hours.
Most of this is to share tomorrow. One nice thing about sourdough is wrapping it and eating it tomorrow is fine.
