Texting the worlds most terribly written sentences to my crush without realizing like i'm an illiterate rock 🤡

some goofy stuff to figure out and obvious issues to fix but finally getting the hang of things. If you decide to use illustrator for technical schematics I really recommend all your symbols be symmetrical with regards to both axes otherwise snapping to nodes will not align easily (but you can use guides to sorta do it anyways, it just sucks and you need to made the grid subdivisions 100 instead of 10 to get it fine grained enough)

is there anything more beautiful than banjo and cello

Its weird how the reimbursement i'm getting from work to cover out of pocket travel might be the same amount as taxes i owe the province, to the dollar?

Last year i got rejected from a grant saying i should apply next year. This year the grant is cancelled 🫡

Democracy is a problem of distributing resources. The market approach makes living things into objects, the correct approach though was the opposite

I've been hitting random diy forums to learn about circuit history and this line i read today fucking killed me "I'm glad I still have a few functioning brain cells. They keep each other company."

don't get me wrong if justin was in town I'd love to talk and chat but I reserve this book the kind of critique I have for things which could have been devastatingly good and instead feel perfectly fine

I found justin joque's "revolutionary mathematics" disappointing. It's both deeply critical and yet unable to see beyond scientism as irretrievably emmeshed in the social powers that bring it to life. it reminded of Buckminster Fuller's spaceship earth except much better read and about stats instead of homes

it's not just the usual arguments about generative machine models and their social and economic and environmental costs. it's that the reason they are even superficially useful to someone like Terry Tao today is because they are plagiarising a huge wealth of explanatory text that mathematicians (including Tao himself, prolifically!) have spent generations amassing and sharing, and transitioning from the collective project of making and sharing these texts to a model of individuals consulting language models is making a very dangerous menu out of the discipline's seedcorn.
