I think there's a broader culture at play as well. We've been conditioned to look for the easy fix.
This isn't just an AI thing, but a social media thing perhaps? We're used to being promised hacks and shortcuts. Nobody wants to hear "the answer is to work hard at it."
I had one lady on a workshop once who got seriously mad at me because I refused to show her the shortcuts to making her photos look great. It was such a strange conversation. I was demonstrating techniques for editing photos at the time, noting that it matters if you start with a high contrast or low contrast RAW file. The direction you head will vary according to what kind of image you start with, and what kind of image you wish to end up with.
She was incensed that I "refused" to give her a simple 3-step explanation on how to make her photos look great. She didn't want to do the work, she wanted to learn how to avoid the work! She wanted a hack to get her across the finish line instead of even trying to explore the art of photography.
