#SilentSunday last of the late summer picnics

#FreeBSD I’m finding my #iwlwifi #AX210 fails to receive ipv6 RA messages so SLAAC doesn’t work. Anybody else able to try?

IPv4 works fine.

https://community.intel.com/t/intel-ax2xx-wi-fi-6e-and-ipv6-slaac and several other threads for windows and Linux suggest this may be a firmware / hardware issue.

#PortsLife #FreeBSD I spent another morning updating and patching a bunch of stuff. I have a couple of new interesting ports to share:

PatDiff: diffs for the discerning developer

- https://github.com/janestreet/patdiff textproc/patdiff is one of my favourite command line tools, your diffs never look so good and clean! Gorgeous output, written in #OCaml

markpdf / markterm: PDFs from markdown

- https://github.com/ralsina/markterm ported mainly because it provides a great markdown->PDF tool, with pagination support! I want this for simple invoice generation, and it was really quick to put a fake one together! Written in #Crystal.

The lovely fonts are from https://mbtype.com/:

Valkyrie B for the table https://mbtype.com/fonts/valkyrie/sample.html
Advocate 55 Wide Med for the headings https://mbtype.com/fonts/advocate/sample.html

DejaVu Sans for the body, public domain https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DejaVu_fonts from https://github.com/dejavu-fonts/dejavu-fonts

These days, instead of screaming into the void, I just sit down beside it, and say "I know, Void, I know". Even voids need to be comforted occasionally, everybody screams at them and nobody's giving back.

If you’re looking for external validation in your life, just Stop.

This is a trap. Better is a few close friends, and seek joy and contentment.

#Fonts https://michaelnotebook.com/notes/typeface/typeface.html I am rather fond of Garamond in print media, and of Georgia online.

#SilentSunday the liminal times

today's job is bringing the last two of my homelab machines under a ... more disciplined .. approach, with a mix of cfengine and ansible.

#FreeBSD there's an update for #UptimeKuma #PortsLife https://reviews.freebsd.org/D60093 bringing it to v2.5.5 now, testing welcomed #WorksOnMyMachine on arm64 already.

If you're using this port please let me know, I'd like to keep a few early beta testers of new versions in the loop!

Launching #FreeBSD EC2 instances with a graphic desktop via @cperciva ofc

https://www.daemonology.net/blog/2026-09-24-Launching-FreeBSD-EC2-desktop-AMIs.html

Anybody running lots of #FreeBSD 15.x systems who could run

netstat -nxptcp | grep -

And report back a % of machines that report any lines in addition to the header?

More details at https://reviews.freebsd.org/D58484 which is in STABLE but not RELEASE

Just remember anybody who says Remigration without recalling its Nazi roots is a modern day fascist and the will come for you and yours.

Every software developer should watch @Felienne‘s outstanding talk at DDD Europe. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0-6-f94n_9M it is ofc insightful funny and with cool graphics!

I first heard of her https://www.hedy.org/ programming language several years ago via SE Radio podcast, where she hosted many episodes.

#unFollowFriday:

https://DigitalOcean.com/ for supporting Fascist #Omarchy.

I just cancelled my account there, I've been a user/customer since very early days. So disappointed.

I repeatedly linked to https://stopomarchy.org/ in my "Customer Satisfaction Survey". You can too.

I wonder how many people who dumped on Ed Sheeran have actually done anything substantive for #Gaza.

Donations, protests, contacting MPs, helping refugees, whatever.

Anything at all other than RTing and dumping on him.
