Our family went through Ooray in 1999 on a family camping trip. We went through on July 4th and enjoyed seeing the air Force jets flying up the canyon. Then we realized that there was a parade on the ONE road through Ooray. We ended up as the tail end of the parade. It was hot and we all had the car windows rolled down. Then we learned about the (apparently) tradition of tossing water balloons at open car windows!
