A six-year-old Chinese girl, Lian Yunzhi, broke the Rubik’s Cube world record this month, solving it in 4.27 seconds. American tech oligarchs warn that the US is falling behind in cube technology, and say, “you all gotta get on board with the cube or you’ll be left behind.”

Much to unpack in the rolling disaster that is Hague-seth, but turns out the globe that my mom had (from her parents) was the same type Eisenhower had.

Also, I f*cking know how to move that globe without breaking it. I dusted it for years and vacuumed under it. Like weekly.

I am not a professional mover, nor was I as a junior high and high school kid.

Kegsbreath can’t source a staff that could figure this out. 🤦‍♂️

Earlier today an AI large language model (LLM) said something in response that was either impressively insightful, or trite and very “I am 14 and this is deep.” I haven’t had coffee yet today so I cannot tell easily.

Does this mean I am failing to meet my language processing benchmarks and need retraining? 😲

Saw this as a meme, and it was like a screenshot of a screenshot of a photocopy through binoculars. So I cleaned it up. Art work by the talented Valeriy Kachaev.

Honestly, weird choice for a revised #Cornell seal.

When someone over cooks something so badly it is basically just a cinder now:

That’s not well done, that’s congratulations.

Me yesterday: spends 3 hours trying to dissect why a live web app of mine isn’t working.

The app today: decides to randomly start working again without explanation.

Me today: why does this feel like a failure or like the machine is lying to me…

Of course this Pope wasn’t going to say Claude has a soul, previous to being Pope he served 2 terms as Prior General (global head) of The Order of Saint Augustine.

Augustine wrote, "If you wish a definition of what the soul is, I have a ready answer. It seems to me to be a certain kind of substance, sharing in reason, fitted to rule the body." - On the Greatness of the Soul, 388 AD

Anthropic is over a thousand years late to this extensive conversation; such foolishness on their part.

Adversaries can use PII against our soldiers. Threat models include soldier facing identify theft/financial fraud, or whose spouse is put in an infidelity suggesting deep fake, is as compromised/combat ineffective as a battle causality. Really glad they didn't encrypt any of this data 🤦‍♂️
