RT: @DropSiteNews Benjamin Moser, author of Anti-Zionism: A Jewish History, told Rashid Khalidi that his 80-year-old mother, who had all but called him a Hamas member, apologized after reading his book: “I’m ashamed I ever said I was a Zionist.”

His book traces Jewish opposition to Zionism over the past century and challenges their exclusion in discussions over Palestine. “No, you don’t get to set the rules anymore. We’re setting the rules now,” Moser said.

Khalidi added that he had never seen so many people change their views so rapidly, noting that major publishers are now embracing books on Palestine that would have been virtually unpublishable just three or four years ago.

The magical thing about the current moment is people can write 3,000 word essays on how AI is changing software development and just plop “I’ve never written any code btw” in the middle of it and carry on regardless without any shame or self-doubt.

Like, I don’t rock up to an oncology conference and start telling them about helping patients through chemo, but maybe I would if I had the unearned self-confidence of a digital transformation consultant with a $20/mo ChatGPT account.

Unbelievable.

“I am proud to say that as part of our new union contract, Current Affairs recently adopted one of the strictest anti-AI policies in the publishing industry. No text that is AI-generated may be published in our magazine. No AI-generated art may be used as a Current Affairs illustration. When you read Current Affairs, you are going to be reading the thoughts of a human, and seeing the results of human artistry.”

So "ID required" laws for social media that compromise everyone's privacy due to data leaks and lock LGBTQ kids out of information have LITERALLY ZERO impact on safety?

@Remittancegirl I think we need to bear in mind that every French school child is taught about the French Revolution and how democracy and liberty, equality & fraternity spring from Revolution.
So their default is to come onto the streets and protest because that is how they have been taught that change is brought about.

After all, it worked the last time!

The longest running soap opera in the UK had a trans person in it for about 20 years and no one gave a shit.

Fuck JKR

Normal people do not give a shit how people live their lives.

It sincerely depresses me when I meet young Spanish men who have been indoctrinated with this machista nostalgia for a Spain that never was.

I spent my childhood in Madrid under Franco.

People disappeared. People behaved in cowardly ways because they were frightened. Women had few rights, LGBTQ people were persecuted, people belonging to the pueblo gitano were abominably persecuted and their children were stolen.
