How god damn cool is uncommercialized social media. Thank you mastodon for giving me hope in this world - as someone who spends way too much time online

Enbee (they/them) was disappointed that the government opposed recognising them, and intersex people, today in the Dáil.

Check your weather warnings #MastoDaoine - some counties have gone up from yellow to orange and Met Eireann warning the oath of the storm hard to predict.

Protestors Criticized For Looting Businesses Without Forming Private Equity Firm First. “It’s disgusting to put workers at risk by looting. You do it by chipping away at their health benefits and eventually laying them off.” https://theonion.com/protestors-criticized-for-looting-businesses-without-fo-1843735351

“Violent protests” no they’re not. This is a lie. Every single fucking time, it’s a lie. Period, without exception. This is a heuristic I rely on.

The state has all the power. It has police with guns and armies with tanks. It has money and surveillance and legitimacy. When people turn out to protest with their bare bodies against the power of the state, they are exquisitely vulnerable. Agents of the state might beat them, handcuff them and kidnap them, spray them with high powered hoses, deploy chemical weapons like tear gas to torture them, or use increasingly exotic weapons involving sound or microwaves.

Or the state might just shoot them, or burn them, or drive over them with tanks.

There is nothing protesters can do that even remotely compares.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the Freelance Forum Autumn 2026 a success. Speakers, chairs, attendees, volunteers, NUJ members and staff, and Coimisiún na Meán for their ongoing support.

Help me out here. Why is it apparently a bad thing for social houses to be completely finished, functional, possibly with some furniture?

Weary of the constant nag for attention of group chats and social media. Time to return to tradition, sending friends a letter once every six months that begins "I write to you more in hope than expectation that you will receive this, and pray you reassure me of your still being alive. Tabitha has the Fever"

GCP outage update:

Due to a power event we had suffered an outage within europe-west2-b zone. The power event is mitigated. Partial mitigation to infrastructure services will be observed within the next 30 minutes and the remaining services will be mitigated there after.

I haven't tried any if these on Windows, but they do have ports.
