#eMudhra

it is extremely funny that emudhra's response to absolutely fumbling this cryptographic bag is "you guys online were really mean and loud about this so we're not going to do it anymore, humph!"

However, the level of social media amplification around this incident has brought scrutiny that is out of proportion to SSL/TLS’s place in our business. In view of this, after detailed deliberations our board has concluded that withdrawing from global SSL/TLS is the right decision for eMudhra and its shareholders.

very childish behavior

REPURPOSING OLD SERVER HARDWARE

PROS:
cheap as fuck, reliable as fuck because it hasn't died yet and you can find parts for it on ebay 💪

CONS:
my 20 year old processor can't run some newer code because it relies on a newer instruction set 🥀

one of these days some engineer is going to be like "out of an abundance of caution we are going to burn all of our servers in a fire"

though honestly i think i've annoyed people with my presence and misconfigured client so i may just disconnect in general

today i may actually get around to fixing my irc relay that has been fucking up for a while and i think it's because of memory isuses

the european commission rolled out an instance of "element pro" (also known as #matrix) and it is going as well as you'd expect

The Commission introduced Element Pro over the summer as a “sovereign back-up to Teams,” according to an internal staff memo seen by POLITICO. The platform is intended to provide a fallback for Commission communications if U.S.-based Teams becomes unavailable.

While Teams remains the Commission’s main communications tool, Element Pro is an “internal back-up ... that helps ensure our business continuity” in the event of a “disruption,” the memo says.

But three officials have questioned why the Commission needs the new system — and whether it works well enough to serve as a genuine backup.

“I don’t understand the added value here,” one official wrote on an internal staff message board, seen by POLITICO. Another described the tool as “absolute shit.”

A third official said that, judging matters on how well Element Pro works compared to Teams, the U.S. would “instantly win the war” if it ever decided to switch off its technology. All the officials were granted anonymity to speak freely.
