Our dog trainer took this picture of Ole today. He was having fun.

For those learning about WebAssembly, after years of letting my book’s code examples bit rot (I had hoped to update them for a second edition), I have finally modernized and extended them. Most run in and out of the browser now too.

Have a look. I hope they are useful.

Unpopular theory: AI is scary to many, but the hacking and calls for slowdown are intentional stories to make the autoregressive token generation seem more capable and to encourage US government regulation on the verge of OpenAI and Anthropic’s IPOs. They think they are going to cross the line and this is slamming the doors behind them to thwart competition and cheaper Chinese models. Tech journalism has failed you.

Not sure if it’ll help, but, you never know until you try.

Seriously , though. Don’t give up. Keep trying.

Another reminder you live in the future.

When I sang with Boney M as an 11 year old, I had no idea that decades later they would still feature in the zeitgeist and have a role in AI IP litigation:

Life goal: Achieve Ole level of relaxation.

So far I’m failing.

The semantic CMS merges bookmarks, tags, my Zotero library, manages Manning MEAPS, notes, presentations, images, etc. #emacs #web #orgmode #linkeddata #calendar

The system on which I built my org-mode scheduling is also the basis for a semantic CMS. I ingested years of bookmarks from pinboard.in and merged them with my org-mode captures. I have a cron-like proc that checks the links daily (w/ success cached for a week) and suggests broken links for removal. It will allow me to easily capture new links but keep them fresh and current.

The depressing first run: ~10% gone and ~10% unreachable (gone after subsequent failure).

We lost our little boy Loki very suddenly earlier this summer. We were shattered and not looking to replace him, but his sister, Freyja, was very sad and lonely. We were told about this little boy who needed a home. They met today and got along. He’s staying. Name TBD.

Oops, I’m accidentally writing a new book on modern networking (QUIC, HTTP3, Sans-IO, etc.) There was a gap in the literature. Networking content is either a decade plus old or RFCs which aren’t always easy reads. A fundamental thread is the upending of the network layer orthodoxy to meet modern application needs.

More soon.
