I found a new uniform for when I help with opening/closing ceremonies at #wmhack

Apparently calling all LLM derived software “slop” makes the prompt engineers confused, so let’s reset and just call it misuse of compute resources to produce untrustworthy products with undefined licensing via unethical tool chains.

I probably kept this madness alive when I invented a bot to propagate several other janky web of trust setups we have into the gitlab space. It reduced the pain felt by the admin team, but left everything else just as broken. We were burned out and stabby already without vetting every account, so the bot was a toil win on the admin side. Unfortunately it also removed the kind of friction that generally leads to rethinking assumptions to get to a better solution.

I love how welcoming the default view of https://gitlab.wikimedia.org is when logged out, especially on small viewports, said no one ever.

I had a sandwich. I had crisps (“chips” in my local dialect). Nest one in the other and you get a #CrispSandwichDay sandwich.

I voted.

Solidarity with the workers of the Barack Obama Foundation and Presidential Center who are forming a union.

“As I've said before, if I were looking for a good job that lets me build some security for my family, I'd join a union. If I saw a problem in my workplace, I'd organize my coworkers to do something about it.” — https://obamawhitehouse.archives.gov/blog/2016/09/04/president-obama-letter-americas-hardworking-men-and-women/

Congratulations to everyone who is ready to be their full self today or any day. Every one of you is helping the world become a more tolerant and caring place. #comingoutday

The “zero (drawing of fox) given” sticker is destined to travel to the UK next month with Reedy in the hope that someday @theresnotime will take possession of it.

Today’s Art in the Park spoils. Not pictured: corn dog, lemonade, kalua pork & teriyaki chicken plate lunch, salted caramel ice cream.

I bought a 3rd party refurbished 2022 iPhone SE for $130 USD about a month ago. Seems like a better deal than $2000 USD.

What in the actual fuck is this? https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/117179353254305954

Saw a toot praising Claude for being a supportive aid while attempting to fend off a residential proxy backed crawler wave that was crushing a website. SMDH about the lack of self awareness there of what technology put them in the situation in the first place.

Proud of the work that our union is doing to counter FUD by providing our perspectives on our organizing campaigns.

For the WWU-US/CWA bargaining unit, US labor law and federal enforcement under the current political regime are very much stacked against workers. Our struggle is one of camaraderie and mutual aid, and that makes all the difference when organizing to improve transparency, accountability, and equity within our workplace.

It is happening! 10 years after the first serious discussions I know of about organizing at the Wikimedia Foundation, the US direct rank-and-file workers of the WMF have formally demanded recognition of a bargaining unit. I could not be more proud of all of my past and present colleagues who toiled and voted to get us to this milestone. Next stop: collective bargaining!

New achievement unlocked: WWU-UK is out and proud today. I’m so excited to see our solidarity union growing new tools to bargain for protection of us all.

And in what is in many ways a perfect example of the conflicts between Wikimedia Foundation staff and the enwiki communities, the first comment is someone who proudly claims membership in wikiprojects for socialism and organized labor being mad that I get paid for working.
