NB: A mere 1.5-2" (38-50mm) of rain doesn't sound like much... but this is a landscape and environment that typically receives an annual total of just ~10" / 250 mm of precipitation (our annual rainfall total is a basic day in the PNW, I know😜)

So 15-20% of the annual total... in a single storm... could be... interesting. The soil can be pretty much hydrophobic (water repellent) after 5-6 months during which we had no rain at all, or a trivial amount of drizzle at most.
