Been considering joining BlueSky. I feel Mastodon consists of some strong counter cultures, that are turning more echo chambery, now that more people have left Mastodon for Bluesky and Threads.
Together with some very activistic corners that I feel are not a healthy social media experience, I’ve not been enjoying Mastodon as much the last couple of months.
I need some more diversity. That was the beauty of early Twitter. Maybe adding bluesky will help find me a better balance.
I’ve posted my newest monthly update about technical changes that impact the Commons community but that have not been communicated via the more ‘generic’ news updates.
The topics are discovered and compiled into a list by a (Claude Sonnet created) software tool and then filtered again by me and I rework the list into a shareable post.

And yes, animated gif, webp and pnga (no svg animations) work as well…
The possibilities are endless for the rip community ;)
I also had no idea you could include a background-image from a STYLE block.
This immediately tingled url() and SVG and XML resource tracking fears in me, but an hour of AI testing later and it seems that the browser vendors have properly closed off these holes at all levels. pfew.

I have discovered a reproducible browser crash…
Ah interesting. past/future only works when the text is inside a separate tag.
I don’t think that’s in the spec like that is it ?
It makes sense from a browser perspective i guess. Just never knew.
Actually, here is a screenshot of preliminary results
Jon Stewart interviews another one of my favorites, Cory Doctorow.
And there’s some real gem moments here. I think Jon is about to launch a few new investigative daily show episodes on the contents of just this single show.
kan er toch niet voorbij lopen zonder even aan Youp te denken
Was just introduced to the Wikisource Reader app and I have to say, pretty impressed !

I finally officially released my VTT llibrary for PHP
It allows for parsing and authoring of VTT files. A future step is to also implement full featured HTML rendering, but its not something i need right now. Why vivid ? I don’t know, I liked the alliteration.

Don’t forget the people of MH-17!
Brutally shot down by Putin and his lackeys on this very day 12 years ago.
298 people died because of this man’s ego in that incident alone. 300 000 people total in what was until recently the dumbest of wars.
Did you know that all paid editors of wikipedia, are actually paid actors ?
Oh no.. what I feared from the start of the war.. Pechersk Lavra is burning. Such beautiful heritage.
WMF staffers asked me during wmhack, why I have decided not to work for WMF.
I think the answer is pretty obvious
Oh and the best Mochi I’ve ever had. Had to get some again today (at mochimochi)
Mango, matcha, lychee, sesame and pomegranate
#thx Milano ! Your china town was the most fun china town i’ve experienced in Europe so far. Your italian food is good too, but this was a lovely surprise.
Doner sandwiches are out. I discovered Mo
