Frankly still a little dissatisfied with this ending. They have a potential cure, but we're not exploring that.

The garlic fixation is getting weird now.

#Monsterdon

Can't accept universal disease. Like a pandemic? Wow. How quaint.

#Monsterdon

Garlic? So these are explicitly vampires?

"And that's the end" says the writer.

Quite unflappable, isn't she?

#Monsterdon

This is pretty cool. A guy decided to build a replica of the late-1980s TARDIS control room.

That would be pretty high on my list of fun fan projects.

It's interesting that I had to type in the link from the guy's T-shirt, even though I found him on YouTube. Does YT filter out links in video descriptions or something..? That would seem rude, but plausible.

The photo gallery includes both the finished work and some of the construction process, which I think is even more interesting.

I mean just to be clear, I've been around enough squirrely ropes (and extension cords) to step OUT of the rope loop around my feet, regardless of why its there.

#Monsterdon

Nice rope effects there.

And yes, I DO know all 60s character actors by who they played in Star Trek.

Or Doctor Who, if they're British.

Okay. Checking out the #Monsterdon ...

Hey! That's Samuel T. Cogley, Attorney at Law!

I think I will be in on this one. I am a Vincent Price fan.

What made the Centipede arcade machine so cool was the big trackball interface. It had a lot of inertia, and you could really get that thing spinning!

But I think I liked "Frogger" the most on the arcade machines. Maybe it was the story aspect -- poor little frog trying to get across the highway!

For the young 'uns, this is what a "teletype" looks like of about that era (it's not the right model -- my uncle's was a portable that came in a big suitcase -- I don't remember more than that).

Then four games from the arcade era, which I played in actual game arcades, and then on a friend's Atari 2600 console.

I played several of the Infocom text adventures, including "Leather Goddesses" and "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy".

And then I went through a phase with graphic adventure games, especially King's Quest and Gabriel Knight.

In the 2000s, I had gone over to Linux, and there weren't a lot of games. Our compromise was to have a Nintendo Game Cube. I liked the "Enter the Matrix" tie-in game, and I used to re-play the car chase mini-game a LOT -- at one point, I managed to jump the car through a hole in the game model, and it just free-falled endlessly!

I had to include "Adventure". It was one of my first experiences with any kind of computer. I actually played it on a teletype, with one of those 300 baud dial-in modems with the cradle for the handset.

My uncle, who worked as a programmer in the early 1970s brought the teletype to my parents' house, and this was one of the things we did (there was also "Star Trek", which was kind of like Battleship -- you can still find it in Linux distributions to play on the console, and ASCII art).

This was a time when kids did not normally have childhood experiences interacting with a computer -- which seems hard to imagine today, but it was true.

Okay, so people are posting "9 games" they found formative, so I have a wonderful opportunity to date myself here. :muppets_waldorf:

But here we go -- a good span of the history of computer gaming. But not recently.

You know. Sometimes a show panders to fans. But the thing is, I AM a fan, and it totally works on me.

I know this is probably the WHOLE cameo right here, but I'm glad to see they did it. I may have to re-watch some more animated Trek now.

Overall, the episode sounds pretty cool. I'm sure I'll love it a year from now when I can finally get it on Blu-Ray (because as a rule, I don't do streaming services).

There is something comforting and quaint about mechanical-sounding old-fashioned synthetic voices, for me now.

No "uncanny valley", I guess?

🤔 :gonzo:

I think the title of "Worst Monsterdon" is probably still held by "Vampire of Bikini Beach"..? WIth "Attack of the Bee Girls" a close 2nd. 🤔 :dumpsterfire:

#Monsterdon

And YET.
This was STILL not the worst #Monsterdon

This seems like entirely unnecessary exposition, TBH.
