The PHP thing has made me think about a killswitch for my website. I wonder about this in general-- the idea that any system should have a simple way to turn it off quickly

Alley in Akibahara. I remember walking around sort of feeling out of place and even a bit lonely as I was on my own. It is a cool place but also casts you into relief a bit. I certainly didn't always feel that way but I do remember a friend describing the same sensation.

This sculpture is at the National Museum of Science and Nature in Ueno Park, Tokyo. I really, really like this sculpture and I am so satisfied with this picture. I don't know anything about it but overall (see earlier post) there are really nice brutalist... things... here.

If I ever print business cards again I think I am going to just put SCENARIO PROGAMMER. Like from a squaresoft rpg

Finally because I am in here posting things I want to tell you an old joke I like to make which is we were collectively denied the best Bush/Clinton of the Bush/Clinton years which would have been an election between Kate Bush and George Clinton. And with that I turn this app off and set my phone down.

This is the little town at the base of Mt. Takao, Tokyo. I like this little picture. As I write this it is a cold, blustery fall day, and when we went it was a brisk (not cold but definitely jackets weather) spring day.

Apologies for the gender binary normalization in the last boost-- not tryna reinforce that, just an incredible poster.

Fight fascism by asking questions of other humans!

It feels like can we just fork major projects like Firefox or linux and rip out most of the code and boil them down to something more like a lump of unchanging iron and just use THAT

Much better than average (for me) collection of street photography from early this year. I like these at a set that all kind of have their own energy or feeling to them. I don't know why but success always relates to the day more than to individual pictures. I think it is just whether my brain is actually working and energetic. For instance I did the same walk today and all garbage complete garbage :-p

The moon from the peace bridge back in January.

Bow River in Calgary. In winter the river changes so much day to day, constantly freezing thawing breaking up.

T-shirt shop near where I work. Idk why but I really like this image!

Working through backlog and also changed my little renderer thingie to (maybe?) be a bit more physical. Which also seems to tint the photos and create a lower ceiling for brightness; it's a simulation and I'm not sure if I understand it bit I like it overall.

More here, mostly some nice scenery of the river frozen over.

I am publishing a very stupid short story here today, Uncle Mingon's Abode. I worked hard on this, it stupid bit not really a trifle. It is about an old uncle's mysterious old house and things that happen in it. #fiction

I have a soft spot for any n64/game that ran terribly due to being ridiculously ambitious. Those were not just good those were GREAT days!

Some bridge art from last November. An amazing spot constantly being renewed.

Your office may have a board room with no windows looking into it. A situation room, by design. It may have just a single unassuming door, and it may be that noone ever thinks about it or goes into it or books it for meetings because, as far as it appears to the unconscious mind, it's just a door.

Listen, because this information may be useful to you. The situation room is not the situation room. It is your personal nap room.

I am team upsert. insert / update dichotomy was a terrible, terrible mistake

Programming is like, "oh yeah. I am going to refactor this and eliminate all this ugly code. This is like eating a juicy orange I can't wait to break everything. "

I have this Vic 20 game in my memory from when I was a kid, it was on a friend's computer. I actually think I found what it was some time ago but lost it again. Anyways I realized how interesting it would be to do videogame remakes from memory of games you only played once or twice or a long time ago. I guess a kind of "demake" or perhaps we call it "amnimake" if I can portmanteau amnesia with remake and still make sense.
