If you're planning on taking a flight anywhere, please make sure you check the regulations around batteries and powerbanks.
Many airlines don't allow 𝘢𝘯𝘺 powerbanks or loose batteries in checked baggage or carry-on luggage.
Don't be the passenger that causes a major delay or, Dog forbid, an in-flight fire.
There are too many of these messages mentioning in-cabin fires due to lithium batteries.
This explains why social media posts on all platforms supporting Pauline Hanson's One Nation have plumetted over the last 48 hours.
Unless it's a coincidence, I suppose 🤔😂

Trump signs an act into Law and 3 weeks later breaks that law.
He's formulated an agreement (agreed to Russia's request) to buy (ie, pay Russia a shit-tonne of money for) oil from Russia.
This feeds much-needed funds into Russia's economy, adds millions of tons of oil to the global supply (possibly refucing fuel prices just in time for the US midterms) and breaks his own law.
A law that was created by a bi-partisan congress to force Russia to the negotiating table with Ukraine by apply economic pressure.
The question now is: will the Congress Republicans finally do something vaguelly Congress-like and shut him down, or admit they are stuffed come the midterms and back him in an attempt to hold on to power?
The excuses coming from his supporters are going to be legion.
This 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 be a grand slam for the Democrats et al, but somehow I think they're going to miss the oportunity. Again.
Margaret Hamilton passed away on September 30, 2026, at the age of 90.
Her passing was announced by MIT on October 7, 2026, honoring her legacy as a computing pioneer whose work led the software development for the Apollo program and helped establish the field of software engineering. She is survived by her daughter, son-in-law, two grandsons, and four great-grandchildren, with a memorial service planned in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Margaret was the first female programmer in the project, joining in 1965, and later became Director of the Software Engineering Division.
Her problem approach of "When you see a problem, first count to five," sticks with me still.
🥲💙

Franka, I have questions. Well, one question. Does that mean YOU are a compostheap? Or that you like compostheaps? 😁
And g'day 👋
"Home" for a few days.
This is good, but it's a shame the Federal Government will still not address the underlying issue: privatisation.
When governments run services, you get bureaucracy, paperwork, and inefficiency. They can be controlled.
When private industry runs services, you get corruption, profit-taking, bribery, theft, lies, and general bastardry. Those are virtually uncontrollable except in the past tense.

Yeah, yeah. Let me know when Star Lord's inbound. He's still got my Walkman...
After the walkout conducted by most of the delegates at the beginning of Netenyahu‘s UN address, Israeli staff walked around and took note of every country that left. Using UN attendance records, this also gives them a list of the names of the 𝑝𝑒𝑜𝑝𝑙𝑒 who left.
(𝑆𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑐𝑒𝑠: 𝑈𝑁 𝑣𝑖𝑑𝑒𝑜 𝑓𝑒𝑒𝑑, 𝐴𝑙 𝐽𝑎𝑧𝑒𝑒𝑟𝑎)
Given Israel’s enthusiastic extra-legal use of their security services, that would make me very uncomfortable if I was one of those people.
Conversly, we now have a list of those who stayed... 😉

Yes! Why is that a question? Hot water burns, especially through clothing (the cloth holds the heat in), are a medical emergency FFS!

"School lunch debt" is a phrase that should not exist, anywhere, for any reason, ever.

This's great.
Now, to force manufacturers to build their devices and equipment in a manner that enables repair in the first place.
"Sure, you have the right of repair; go for it. We even sell all the highly specialised tools you'll need, for a small markup."
This is going to get interesting.
Zohran Mamdani, Mayor of New York City, has released ALL of the files associated with the 9/11 attack.
The files that every Mayor and Governor since the attack has refused to release.
They are damning of Giulliani and his bullshit decisions regarding health and safety. He KNEW about the air quality issues, refused FEMA and National Guard assistance, and lied to get businesses back into action.
John Stewart has been fighting for this for decades; he looks tired but satisfied, while remaining angry at the cover-up.
Will this be expensive for the city when lawsuits start coming in? Absolutely. Was it necessary? Also absolutely.
This announcement actually had me choking up a bit. It's been so long...
A certain orange stain is going to hate it when hea sees that the USA has shrunk a bit, and his prized Greenland is actually quite small. 🤣
The U.N. has voted to adopt a new world map as standard. They are dumping the Mercator Projection for an Equal Earth Projection, a map that shows landmasses much closer to their real size.
It makes Africa and other equatorial landmasses look larger than previously, and shrinks Europe, North America, Russia, and especially Greenland.
The only country to speak and vote against the resolution was the USA. No surprise.
The US delegate actually sat there and claimed that the UN was ignoring real problems while working on changing maps for idealogical and political reasons (ignoring the science completely). How she stopped from dissolving in a puddle of irony I'll never know. She also claimed that passing symbolic resolutions like changing maps was why the U.N. is "losing its credibility" – the puddle deepens.
Six countries—Estonia, Georgia, Lithuania, Moldova, Serbia, and Ukraine—abstained from voting.
> While they are not in circulation, they can be used as legal tender to pay off debt and taxes, although federal law states that businesses can decide whether or not to accept them.
Wait for the explosion that happens when the first business refuses to accept the coin as payment 🙄🤣🤣
10-year-old granddaughter on a crowded school bus. Bully (boy) decides she's fair game and starts in. She ignores him. He eventually tells her she should end herself because nobody cares.
It takes ten punches, but she leaves him laying on the floor of the bus.
Never, ever, pick on a redhead who is staying quiet during your bullshit.
No bully at school the next day, and nothing has come of it
Proud grandparents here. 👍

Hey, @georgepenney... this looks like something you'd like.
This would be my favourite #SiloArt installation in the 12 years we have been travelling. Karoonda, South Australia.
(Misspent youth on a sheep property in the far west of NSW in the 60's)
At night there is a projection displayed on the "blank canvas" section of the silos (not shown here). Different imagery at different times. If I can get a worthwhile picture with my phone I will post it.
EDIT: Some night shots. Lousy phone camera. The images are very low light and it has to be full dark (not twilight) to see them properly.
