Hey, old blog readers. Do any of you remember SJ and her blog booksnobbery? Or Lucy's Football? I'm in the process of moving my old Wordpress blog over to Dreamwidth, and it's making me nostalgic for that old community.
SJ's old WP site has gone dark (I remember when that happened) and Lucysfootball has gone private. I'm bummed I lost touch.
Working on our #Vermont ballot today. Yes on both constitutional amendments. Voting Blue down the line. Wrote in a friend for Justice of the Peace (she is actually running.) Still wondering about High Bailiff, because that's a thing here. Very quaint.
Almost done with #HistoryByAHair. @StillIRise1963, it's been a wonderful read and I highly recommend it.
One quote stands out right now. "If we could learn as a society that we're so much alike, maybe we'd stop being so inhumane to each other."--Dorothy Young McKnight, descendant of Sally Hemings and Thomas Jefferson.
Tonight's #movie was 1939's The Human Monster (aka The Dark Eyes of London). #BelaLugosi stars as a mad scientist/conman who commits a series of murders for insurance money, while also disguising himself as the blind manager of a charity to further his scheme. Yes, really. Not his best, but certainly not his worst. Also stars Greta Gynt as the plucky Diana trying to find out who killed her father. Shakespearean actor Wilfred Walter plays the heavy that Rondo Hatton might've played 10 yrs later.
And for anyone wondering, I get KF94s because they fit my round face better than KN95s (or N95s). 2/2
Just ordered more KF94 masks from #BeHealthyUSA.net. They have a 20% coupon thing going on right now, in case you need to stock up, too. #COVIDIsNotOver #MaskUp 1/2
It's my boss's last day. Sad and not really getting much done. :(
Hey #Vermont! Did you know that while State Prosecutor, Sarah George, has refused to press charges against the anti-ICE protesters in Williston, AG Charity Clark has moved to press charges against them. The court hearing is today, Thursday. Please call her office this am and demand that she drop the charges. 802-828-3171
The guy who answers the phone is nice, so be polite. https://www.yahoo.com/news/us/articles/vermont-ag-charity-clark-prosecute-233522235.html #FuckICE
Busy day for me. Got my flu shot, mailed a package at the PO, and picked up movies at the library. After a rest, I made dinner. And then we watched the original Murder on the Orient Express. Good but longer than I was expecting. But my brain made it through. Yay!
It's done now, though. Time to give it a rest.
Good night, friends. Sleep well. ❤️
Not that there was anything to like about #RobertKraft before this. Apparently, I'm a #Macklemore fan now. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/patriots/2026/09/14/macklemore-ed-sheeran-tour-robert-kraft-ban-palestine/91760125007/
Tonight's #movie was 1985's Clue. I think we'd seen it before, but I'm not sure. Tim Curry was wonderful. The rest of the ensemble did a fine job, as well.
Also, my #COVID shot isn't biting me in the ass yet. A little tired and my arm's a little sore. I was concerned I'd be too worn out to make dinner, but that wasn't the case. And Husband's first attempt at smoked chicken was a yummy success.
Finished rereading #TerryPratchett's Monstrous Regiment last night. Good, of course. Fun and interesting to see what he does with #gender. And while he doesn't say so directly, #trans and #nonbinary folk make their appearance in a positive way, all while he's throwing shade at the patriarchy and restrictive gender roles. Plus it's funny. ❤️
Vacation has begun. No work for my employer until next Wednesday. Woohoo!
No plans other than tomorrow, I'm picking up Clue at the library and getting my eyes rechecked at the optometrist. Hopefully, both of those tasks will go well.
Good night, friends. Sleep well. ❤️
WTF?! "Under the new conditions, healthcare providers would be required to discourage contraception use, tell their patients to get married and have children, and exclude and stigmatize transgender people, or lose Title X funding." https://www.atg.wa.gov/news/news-releases/washington-sues-protect-funds-reproductive-and-preventive-healthcare-illegal #Washington #ReproductiveRights #TitleX #HHS #fascism
And this one hurts worse for me. I got through high school thanks to Rocky Horror. RIP, #TimCurry. Again, universe, you got the wrong 80 year-old. 💔 https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c5yd92gkk7vo
So, I'm looking online for some new tops and I keep running across the phrase "cotton linen." My immediate thought is, "Okay, this is a blend of cotton and linen. Nice."
But when I click on any of the links, I discover that no, these shirts are polyester, either a blend of 100%.
What the fuck?! I guess "cotton linen" means whatever the retailer wants it to mean. 😡
Just a reminder to folks planning on their fall #flu and #COVID #vaccines: while the #FDA has approved new flu and COVID shots, #ACIP is still not functioning. This means that who should receive the vaccine and how its costs are covered by insurance hasn't been confirmed. The linked article suggests planning your shots as normal, but confirm w/your insurance about coverage before getting them. What a mess. 🤷🏻♂️

I'm amused by/feel bad for the young folks who don't know how to keep track of their cycle using a paper calendar and a pencil. It's quite easy, actually, and you don't have to worry about your data being stolen. Easy to destroy, too, if need be. Highly recommended.
My goodness, it's warm tonight. And muggy. Fingers crossed I can sleep.
Good night, friends. Sleep well. ❤️
